Really Dave utter bollocks, what was the true cost? And how much of that deadwood have we got shut of and by whom. What did we lose or profit from those that got shunted?
They probably cost than Lukaku...who then was sold for a massive profit thus covering any other financial output.

...and how has that been resolved under 4 changes of manager while having the DoF position in place?

Despite all the hard sell BS on the 'beauty' of having a consistent approach to playing style under a DoF, changes happen anyway.

Erm well Brands has been here for 2 managers... Silva (Moshiri's love child) whom he sacked and now Ancelotti.

Iwobi
Mina
Kean
Delph
Gbamin
Bernard
Gomes

£160M in fees and well over £40M in wages - so far.

May as well have found a furnace and thrown the cash into it.
You didn’t answer my question Dave, I asked you where Brands had lost 200M not where he had spent it, or, do you really believe that we would not get any money back for these players.

I’m not a fan of Brands by the way, but, please don’t invent figures to make a stick to beat him with. The only one of the players listed who is a complete dog is Iwobi, and on that one I agree with you, appalling buy.

The thing is though Dave, a manager could have easily brought in those players himself (or others of similar ilk) and we would still be having the same conversation about money wasted. Also going back over the time we have employed the DoF model some of the players bought in are really not that bad, i think a lot of our problem over the last few years has been more to do with the managers we have had in charge. Silva for example had failed at 2 PL clubs and should never have been given another chance here or at any other PL club.

But the picking and choosing of managers in the period it's been in play is not even carried out by the DoF. Moshiri does that. You have to ask again on that score also what the role is all about.

Yes, managers could have wasted as much as a DoF. But then we'd A/ not have a costly post to pay for above him, and B/ know where the blame lies for sure.

Under a DoF you get lack of responsibility and waste. And when you have a character like Moshiri who back seat drives it makes no organisational sense, because he smashes through hierarchies as if they aren't there.

If we got half the money back in for that lot we'd be lucky (and it certainly wouldn't be Brands driving such deals' as he's proven comprehensively he cant get cash back in for players languishing on the books).

The fees wasted are enormous. He paid about £15M over the real value of those players in almost all those cases bar Delph and Bernard. And our wage bill is astronomic.

If it;s not £200M in fees and wages we've lost it's not far short of it. And it certainly cant be argued he's spent wisely in anything other than 2 - or at a push maybe 3 - signings.

Tbh mate, i think this is more the problem than anything else, having an owner who wants to play Football Manager is fine at the end of the day it's his club, but then don't go and employ coaches and a DoF and the such like otherwise just stay the hell out of it and when something needs signing or paying do it. Id hate the idea of a Jesus Gill situation or like it is at West Ham with Sullivan sitting in office playing football scout everyday.

Ha ha ok Dave, the 5 that came in this summer look ok to me. Richy, and Digne don't look too shabby. Oh I forgot all the good ones were signed were signed by the manager only the duds were signed by Brands. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way convinced by Brands, but, even if he goes, Moshiri will bri g in another DOF.

Digne was Brands signing and he;s about the only decent money signing who is a success. Richarlison of course was Silva's idea.

Two of the three big signings of this summer were Ancelotti signings. Unquestionably given he'd worked with them before.
