Got late for training and after that had a poor showdown against Rosenborg.

Sorry I meant Benfica. Why did Koeman and Fernandes fall out at Benfica?

To be honest Koeman has a bad tendency of falling out with players. He does it at virtually every club.

manny

Buy him now no point in getting him on loan for moyes to motivate into playing well just for the price to go up hes worth 6m so pay it and reap the
benefit later hes only 22 great skill great age right money(y)

At Benfica, nothing really.

He just picked Beto instead of Manny a lot of times. I don't think that's a fall out.

I heard they had a fall out to be honest. They certainly don't like each other which is why Manny left.

There was an article about it before Fernandes left Valencia.

Nope, Fernandes left because of greed, wether it was him or his agent i don't know.

But that was it. Koeman left at the end of that season, so if there had been a fall out on the base of his departure he wouldn't leave as his new manager wanted him in the squad. Actually, he was part of it and he left under strange circumstances for the fans at least.

Later it was explained that although the club and manager regarded him as an important member of the squad he had requested a move to Portsmouth.

After that more facts came to light, it was all about money.

Fernandes left to better himself. Obviously because of the wages but thats the same as every other young up and coming player. You move to place like England to be paid more money and to play against better opposition. He did exactly the same thing as the likes of Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson did etc.

I've been told by a few sources that he had a disagreement with Koeman. Benfica fans has told me that themselves. There was also an article before Fernandes returned saying he and Koeman didn't see eye to eye.

The difference was that those players went to Man Utd and Fernandes went to Portsmouth. I don't think that was step forward in his career because as much as I dislike Benfica, i'd say that they are a better club than Portsmouth not to mention they play CL football on a regular basis.

If he did have a fall out with Koeman it was about Koeman's choices. I mean, Koeman's choices weren't based on any fall out, but probably a supposed fall out may have started because of Koeman's choices.

IMHO, a player that falls out with his manager over not being first choice is not the model professional.

And at Valencia there were reports of night time activity by fernandes and Miguel. The difference was that Miguel showed composed performances but not Manny.

I have the idea that Manny is not the easiest person to deal with. But he's still on time to learn how to behave professionally. And he better settles down or we'll be passing on a very good talent.

Portsmouth play in a stronger league than Benfica. There not a better team but there still playing in possibly the best League in the world and are competing against the best player’s week in week out. Fernandes obviously wanted to compete against the best as he said in one of the programs. There’s nothing greedy about it really. Players from the likes of Holland, Portugal and Germany move to bigger Leagues to better themselves and get paid more money. That’s the aim of any professional footballer.

You keep on mentioning Fernandes not starting under Koeman and according to Benfica fans on Bigsoccer Fernandes played regularly in that season. He also started in 8 of the 9 champions League games that season. He was definatly a regular. The season went far in the Champions League and beat the likes of Man utd, Villarreal, Liverpool etc Fernandes always played.

Your Valencia point is also well off. Miguel actually got games whereas Fernandes didn’t. He never really had a chance to prove himself consistent or composed in his performances. He made 7 appearances in La liga.

Its easy to get that idea about him. See the Man City game where he was complete gash and didnt seem to want to exert any effort due to the weather.

The thing is with the braided Portugese cat is that you know he has the talent but Im not so sure we should be blowing a lump of wedge for someone based on some dragbacks and flicks, a great goal against United (before he disappeared when the mancs came back in the game) and an admittedly great game against a half asleep Newcastle.

He's a snide, but a snide I would happily get behind if he showed some consistency. I think we can get better for our money, he's one of those players who we'll still talk about potential when he's in his 30s.

Sort of like a jazzy Tony Grant.
