We should have had 8 players left at the end and should have had 4 penalties given against us according to the bells over on Bluemoon.
Ha just been reading on there too lid, they've even started a thread called ' shame on everton' and how we epitomise every thing that is wrong with English football! Talk about goin OTT! There is definetly some sour grapes being thrown about haha!

whole team played well, even neville had one of his better games.

osman gave the ball away a fair bit but i guess he is a bit rusty after being out of action.

WD hibbert on stepping in at CB, for all their possession City didnt do a great deal.

Proud as punch tonight. Superb workrate all over the pitch. City were on top for most of the game but whatever your allegiances, you'd be hard pushed not to appreciate our resilience tonight. Stand-out performances from Distin, Cahill and Howard, but hell, everyone played their part, including the subs - I actually thought Saha and Bily helped us a lot, relieved the pressure on a few occasions.

It wasn't pretty viewing for the most part - some of it was self-inflicted as we did our party piece of sitting far too deep far too early. Just when it looked like we'd see the game out comfortably, they get a bit of luck via the own goal and it was nail-biting time. As for the red card, well, the 2nd yellow was stupidity from Anichebe but I have to say the first one was ridiculously harsh IMO. As for the penalty appeals, one was a fairly clear one and we got away with it (we're usually one of the unluckiest sides in the league so that made a pleasant change.) The rest IMO would have been harsh and City fans claiming otherwise are obviously just frustrated their supposedly title-challenging side couldn't get anything from the game.

I really, really hope this now gives us our real kickstart. We have 3 games coming up we should be looking to win. We've been all over the place at times this season but I'm praying this is now our time to kick on and start moving up the table before this season truly is a complete write-off. Well in, lads, chuffed with you tonight. COYB!

Is Everton's never say die spirit taking over?

I hope so... the future is bright... at least until the next match.

They're paying a man who looks like a melted flapjack £285,000 per week to kick a ball around and we're the team that represents everything wrong with the game? there's a lack of insight if ever i've seen it.

Bluemoon isn't worth the virtual paper it's written on. It's good for nothing other than a laugh at the heights of delusion some fans have spiralled to.

WHAT?

A few observations:

1) If City offered us a straight swap, Lescott for Distin, I wouldn't take it. I never thought I'd be saying something like that but there you go. Distin has been solid for us.

2) Referee was particularly bad. Anichebe's second was a foul but NEVER a yellow card. Awful awful call. If I'm not mistaken, Moyes had a sub up and ready to go when he was sent off so I'm not going to blame Moyes for that one. That one is on the ref.

3) Laughing at the City fans. Every ball whipped into the box or shot into an Everton player was immediately preceded with shouts for hand ball. The only one Darke & McManaman felt was penalty worthy was Neville's second one when he jumped up and it hit his raised arm in front of his body but even that would have been harsh.

4) Saha was very good when he came on and you can see why Moyes perseveres with him. If he can just get a goal or two, I honestly think it would set him on his way for us.

5) Howard. Immense.

6) I thought for sure that when Hibbert came on, that Moyes would have put Neville in Rodwell or Fellaini's place so that one of them could fill in at CB for some additional height. He didn't but it worked out.

7) Congrats to Ossie on his 200th game (according to ESPN) for Everton.

8) Coleman not quitting on that ball and crossing to Cahill for our first just made me laugh and laugh (and shout).

9) Anichebe did well and was jobbed on the poor call for the 2nd yellow.

10) Baines. Immense.

Perhaps this kicks us off on our traditional Christmas run? I sure hope so. I also hope Landon watched the entire match and is working as we speak to get his ass over here pronto.

Excellent result, a different type of game to the previous two, but we clearly had a plan, and the discipline and workrate was top class, much better all round really. City are a more talented side now, so the team deserve credit for keeping there shape and plugging the gaps. I would have liked to have seen more composure in the second half, but the red card came at a bad time really.

Fellaini was a cut above in the first half, Howard had one of the best games he'll ever have, Distin was excellent throughout and Bilyaletdinov and Saha did surprisingly well when they came on. Got us through a tough period in the game. That was a good shift, keep it up!
