Best part of the match in my opinion was seeing the team celebrate together after the final whistle. The team knew they did something together that was truly great, especially defensively. The team clearly had stated that they were going to do all they could to keep shots away from howard, and howard stepped up with some immense saves for the few that made it through the gauntlet of everton legs. Clearly the team had Howard's back, and Howard had their back. We played as a team and celebrated like it. It was beautiful...
Spot on mate

Please tell me you don't really think this? Best game! I am embarrassed how we played, our defending was eratic, apart from the goals (two attacks) we had nothing going forward. We did exactly what people on here **** other teams off for doing at goodison. But i have never seen any team as negative at goodison as we were last night.(even before the sending off) Why when we lost victor did we not try and keep possession, work for each other by moving into space, NO we was content on hoofing the ball straight back to them and sitting on our own penalty box. we are well and truly back to being the most direct, hoofball, boring team in the premiership!!.

Neville did an article a few weeks back suggesting we would be going more direct, my heart sank. It has become a reallity, moyes is back in his comfort zone and us poor sods who have committed to season tickets will have to watch this boring unamaganative, direct, [Poor language removed] football until he leaves.

Nice to get three points though.

I stopped reading at this point.

No, sorry, that's not true, as I couldn't resist commenting on your idiocy.

How was our defending erratic? We've just gone and won at... no, I take it back, you're a waste of time. The only thing negative and boring, my friend, is you.

Erratic defending i think City had over twenty shots on goal but obly about five of them reached Howard which was in the main to fantastic efforts from the team throwing their bodies in front of the ball , I lost count of the amount of blocks we made in and around the box.

I do wish some of our players would stop talking about a victory over a 'big team' (yes you Howard). City should never, ever be described as big in relation to Everton. Someone should make that point stick with these players. Beating City is like beating Bolton or Blackburn to me. Lancastrians that need to be dispatched with ease.

I know exactly what you mean mate , sickning isnt it

The great diaspora mate.

i.e. Evertonians have taken over the world.

I was out shopping in Finchley in my Everton hoodie only yesterday and let on to a lad in an Everton ski hat. Quick chat about the game then off to get the bus.

The places I've been and bumped into an Evertonian mate....

could fill one of LCAB's sunday sermons. Timbuktoo etc. Odds are there's an Evertonian there.

God knows how many we've all bumped into.

Its like some attraction. We're all destined to meet each other eventually.

Its like when you see another evertonian when your out and about, on holiday, at work, anywhere, even when u dont know who the fck they are its just that sort of nod of approval you give each other as if to say 'we are evertonians, n proud of it, fck the rest'.

Playing 5-aside with work wearing my Everton shirt of course. After the game as I was walking to my car and this lad was walking the other way to play with his mates after us, wearing a Danka Everton shirt.

I gave him the said nod of approval...

We should start a thread about this.

D/D and MODS SORT IT PLEASE!

*edit - SORTED !

The best birthday present!

Well, yesterday was my birthday, and sitting at work dreading the match, I was just hoping that somehow Everton would make my day...

And thankfully they came through! It was the most awesome present in the world!
What a game! Thank you Everton, for making my B-Day really tit!

Great game, soft sending off due to the first yellow, but only Anichebe cn be blamed as the second was really a yellow and he shouldnt have been so stupid.

Players that stood out were Cahill, Baines, Distin and Howard

Tbh i think Cahill showed that he is more than just a goal scorer, he showed some good skill and good passing. Distin was great marking Tevez and was confident enough not to just hoof the ball out, Howard made some crucial saves, and what a great goal by Baines.

Fabulous result. Interesting team selection, very enterprising for a change exactly what we have been calling on the manager to try, a little experimenting.
