It's the injuries on top of the fatigue of playing in russia 3 days prior whilst they had a full weeks break.

The seasons a write off now apart from the europa, just hope the injuries are sorted and next season we get another go at it

because he played well there once about 6 months ago and Martinez insists on sticking a massive 28m striker in that position
You're deliberating manipulating the facts. We pushed him out wide second half because he was singularly awful in the first half and we didn't manage a single attack, never mind shot. Hibbert looked more dangerous in the box than he did. Second half Naismith not only scored but led the line and linked the play well. At least he's out the way on the wing... but don't try and give him a free pass when we persisted for far too long with him in the middle and he was even worse

Grates me when we lump it up to Lukaku. Lost count of how many times we tried that today. It doesn't take a genius to see it doesn't work, that's not his game, he needs it to feet.

He is a £28m striker but only when you use him properly. Need Barkley back as soon as.

I said it back in August, and I will say it again.
" I would drive the car if Lukaku wanted to join Tottenham"

I can just hear it now, all the 16 year old "lids" saying I am a WUM from RAWK.
You need to wake up and smell the coffee.
He will never be a footballer in a million years.
That Mourinho is a good judge of a player, and Everton you have been ripped off

Martinez has 5 years for you lot to hate him, hate him when HE gets it wrong. Not when the team is collapsing around him.

Why is that though? He trains them, He picks the side, Or are you blaming he injuries? If you are then maybe he should of thought about blowing his entire transfer budget on one player

OH HELLO DEL

Bait, and trap. Textbook.

Osman behind Naismith, completely agree with also... but I'm thinking more about the fact we aren't going to break up the midfield pairing of now either basic/mccarthy and barry. Definitely need them to hold now that we might be missing stonesy for a while. This could make it sorta difficult to play osman behind naismith playing behind Lukaku!

But on to your other point, yeah lukaku is messing up the basics, which isn't aiding his cause whatsoever. Perhaps Eto'o would've been better today, or even just Naismith upfront. Lukaku will probably be dropped for the next game, and show us what he's all about from the bench towards the end of a game.
Ah yeah I'd better clarify. Osman, Pienaar and Naismith all in there and drop Lukaku, something like:

Barry - Besic/McCarthy

Mirallas/McGeady - Osman - Pienaar

Naismith

Besic was our best player by a mile. Leighton was decent but other than that there's just nothing there. All our players that actually do things with a bit of aggression going forward, Mirallas, Barks and Coleman, are out. It's a shame that a 28million pound striker isn't good enough to carry us through those kind of injuries, but we all saw enough of Rom last season to know that he probably wouldn't.

Although we were poor, we weren't horrendous and never let them run away with the game, mainly because we now actually try to play football in these fixtures rather than launch it at the first opportunity. As long as Lukaku scores fairly soon and gets into some kind of form we'll be alright.

Then drag him off and put a frigging winger there then, Because he is a waste out on the wing

For me though it isn't about today. We have looked devoid of ideas all season and the defence is comical at times.
We lost, at home, to Crystal Palace. A team managed by Neil Warnock. Neil Warnock ffs.
If that doesn't set alarm bells ringing then nothing will. Both Liverpool and United have looked vulnerable at the back and yet we hardly tested either bar a bit of alamo type last chance saloon attacking at the death.
Simply not good enough.
Martinez is failing badly, and he was backed in the summer.

What am I on about? Do you not watch Everton at any other times when he's been a liability.
Osman played well today, as he did WBA as a sub. He can an impact off the bench but don't think he is a starter now. The slatings he gets on here though are out of order IMO. Barkley will be back in a month Oviedo cameo was good today pienaar will improve and any team in the prem would miss Coleman. I put money on us been top 6 by the turn of the year we got a lot of big games out of the way and our injured players will be fresher for the run in. Stay positive!
