Trouble is mate the honeymoon period is over.

Jelavic's efforts will have been noted ditto Pienaar's revival any surprise element has gone, relying on just 2 players for a cutting edge is easily dealt with and slightly camp.

Watching pre-season shows what we all know, passing is a prelude to nothing or worse, it puts us on the back foot.

We have enough to doss around pretending to compete but I see nothing but a repeat of the last few seasons, sh1t on a stick really.
I get that mate but every year we hit a patch of form that see's us beat some of the top teams, sometimes it involves a player (or two, lol) coming in but not always.
I'm gonna leave my rage in a box until 10pm on the 18th, for the time being.

Pienaar,Baines,Osman,Fellaini,Naismith,I think we are going to play some decent stuff this season all good footballers with excellent technique, then again maybe I'm an eternal optimist with EFC!!

Ok, people are getting worried about Neville starting in midfield against Man u, and starting to sweat with the thought of it, and will be cover for Gibson, so Moyes might opt for experience, Barkley is to raw for Man u right now, maybe as a sub so how would you line up the game against Man u but Gibson could be back for the Man u game.

Aye you've come to this conclusion after 3 meaningless friendlies I gather ?
Let's be honest here if we had won those friendlies by a cricket score your synopsis would have been the same.

came on here to try and find a review of the game and my god what a depressing fan base we have.[/QUOTEue union would ]

blue union pick the team now and tactics kipper mk 2

How do 90% of posts on here always link back to the BU Or how **** kenwright is?? Wish this blue union orwould just **** off, all they do is bring a negative depressing point of view blaming pretty much everything on kenwright. I know as well as the next man we need a new owner with some money but For now let's just back the man we have.

Ps fox this isn't a rant at u personally , I just ****ing hate all the BU bollox

If we'd beaten Malaga, Blackpool and Motherwell then yes, I'd probably be a touch more confident about facing the 19 times champions of England.

Struggling to a draw with an SPL side and being outplayed by a Championship team and a bankrupt La Liga outfit that have just sold half their players doesn't inspire confidence.

If you're happy with our preparations though, fair enough.

Nothing but distinctly average is good enough eh?

This is Man United Pre Season
AmaZulu FC
Ajax Cape Town
Shanghai Shenhua
Valerenga
FC Barcelona
Hannover 96

Everton Pre season
Morecombe
Dundee United
Motherwell
Blackpool
AEK Athens
Malaga
and we had another team behind closed doors at Goodison

so we have played one more game with a smaller Squad then Man u as well so pre-season not been that bad.

You're talking as if results actually mean something in pre season.

It's a squad game, it's all about giving enough players some game time and getting their fitness levels right, forget about the results. Yes, the performances haven't been up to scratch, but do you expect the players to go out blood and thunder, risk injury and start the season with a knackered squad?

People look into pre-season far too much.

We could smash every team into oblivion during pre-season. We're still gonna start the season getting bummed by relegation fodder. We're Everton ffs.

*falls sleep until January

Im cool about it if im honest.

Nev will prob be in the midfield for Utd, but to be honest before tonight i was expecting nothing else, we always set up with two defensive midfieders against the CL teams. Its how the majority of the PL are setting up to be honest with two midfielders, playing a 4-2-3-1, depending on the game i think you will see a varience in the midfielders chosen in each position but i would be amazed if Nev didnt start in their against UTd - saying it all summer.

Prob not popular to say, but in reality he played excellently in there with Gibbo on the back nine last season, it was a nice balance with him and Gibbo and they provided a foundation for Pienaar, Fellaini and Niko to really hurt teams and we did - it was the most dangerous ive seen us three seasons. Im more concerned about Gibbo being injured then Nev starting to be honest as ive said its a nice combo.

There are 38 games + next season, i wouldnt be going chicken oriental now, everyone will get games given our squad depth.

For [Poor language removed] sake. I'm not talking about results, I'm talking about performance.

Apart from Athens, we've played utter dog sh*t. In what way is that a good preparation for the season? And don't give me fitness, they're professional athletes, they should be f*cking fit.

shouldnt your little rant be aimed at bourneblue who brought the b u thing up , carry on thou mate.

I thought last nights game was a great training exercise. We were playing a seriously good team. There are probably half a dozen of their team would come into any premiership team and improve it.Certainly there are a number of them I would love to see at Everton in particular Ipso ? he looks as if he is going to be something special.
We have been told that there was a particluarly hard weeks training and a game against the Bulgarians leading up to the Blackpool game,so it is dangerous to read too much into these game.
My biggest concern is the lack of goalscoring options if Jelavic gets injured.

TBF though mate, some of our best preformences last season came with Nev and Gibbo in the team, im not saying they cut through teams with creativity, im saying they provided the foundation and licence for out better players to do it.

You have to look at how most teams are setting up, very few teams this year will not be playing with two anchor midfielders behind a front four.
