Some of the pre-seasons were good. We just start seasons ****. F*** knows why. It's not as simple as saying 'the pre-seasons to blame'.

Personally, I think it's down to transfer uncertainty; not making signings early enough or speculation regarding selling key players carrying on past the start of the season.

Fingers crossed, but we've made early signings and thus far have managed to retain key players. We'll see if this has an effect. I really don't think losing 1-0 away to Malaga will make any difference at all, when all is said and done.

We beat Athens 4-1 and the moaners claim it's Athens reserves.
It's pointed out that Malaga finished 4th last season and are in the CL - the moaners claim they've sold some of their best players.

Some people just want to moan for moanings' sake.

There's a million theories to be honest and probably not one simple reason.

I personally think it's to do with expectation. We finish strongly and then get hopeful and excited for the new season and Moyes and the players buckle under the pressure and bottle it. When all hope seems lost for a decent season and the pressure of performing to a European place kind of standard has gone, we suddenly start surging back up the table.

I think you missed my sarcasm mate.

I thought you first line was serious, that's what I replied to.

not moaning it is only a pre season game, my point is playing Nevillie ahead of some younger players is madness in pre season
we know what he brings to the team, why not give Barkley a full 90 minutes, this Neville in midfield is a waste of time

Probably some truth in that.

The 2010/2011 season was a good case in point. Kept hold of all of our best players that summer, including getting Arteta to sign a new 5 year contract (lol), although we didn't sign anyone of note past Beckford on a free.

Had a good pre-season where we won every game scoring loads of goals bar Wolfsburg away.

Then started the season ****.

Yes, that's definitely the main case to put forward for the theory. That was meant to be our "best ever squad" under Moyes, as Moyes himself said. Arteta was told we'd do great things and convinced to stay.

Bottled it. As ever.

I'd rep this if I could.

Its down to playing the same way from the previous season and not having a plan b. We've been sussed right before a ball is kicked in the prem

Plan b arrives when players get injured or we make some moves in January.

Moyes deep down knows he isn't good enough to be hanging at the top of the table so he doesn't want us 3rd in Decemeber ands the resultant extra pressure and expectation that will be placed on him and the club.

Much better to be 14th in November then finish 7th than be 3Rd in December and finish 7th.

He's happy to have us playing boring crappy cautious safe football till we are close to safety then when the pressure is off he goes for it.

Its easy to talk about knifes at gunfigths when youre sitting in the bottom of the league but not so easy to do so when you;re in the top 4.

so we found out what exactly....were crap down the right hand side and pointin pip and osman is a non starter in CM.

I don't think the people who are saying 'it's only pre-season' are really getting the reason why people are so annoyed by this match.

For me the most frustrating thing is the clear indication from his team selection that Moyes is not willing to change a formula which hasn't worked for us for the past three seasons, certainly not before January. Neville in midfield is a complete non starter, but he persists with it despite us having much better options for that position which would make us a bigger attacking threat.

It doesn't matter if we win lose or draw, it's the way Moyes plays the cards he's dealt which pi**es me off.
