Lukaku

If signing Lukaku is a possibility in the summer then, in my opinion, it should be a priority.

He's still so young for a player of his style (the only real strikers that perform better at his age are the small pacey ones like Owen did) and he has an amazing attitude and desire to better himself. I heard he watches every game every week to watch how the strikers move and look at ways he can improve his game. So yes, although he isn't world class yet, he has the right attitude, an incredible physique, some raw talent and is just lacking experience.

I get the feeling that Mourhinio has already decided he doesn't want Lukaku and I would be gutted if I saw him lining up for any other Premiership side than us next season.
I know its said above but everyone forgets he is still so young, he has looked jaded but he has been leading the line for us single handedly all season. I hope this mini break has done him the world of good and he comes back with a bang at the weekend

Why? What if he knocks another 9-10 goals in? He´ll of scored more then all of Chelseas strike force put together. The lad ,and he is a lad ,the same age as Barkley .Has fantastic potential. Wish some would get of his back.

Kind of my point mate, if he does score that many, they same people will change their opinion again, and say they cant beleive Chelsea let him go.

that article sounds like it was written by a kopite - let's be honest.

decides to chuck sturridge's form into the equation, when it has no relevance what so ever. failed to list all the big money strikers like soldado who have a terrible record to try and even it out.

bony would only cost a couple of million less than lukaku anyway and isn't really for sale you'd feel, which means he may not even be less.

he's also very hit and miss. the article highlights bony's scoring record, but only recently has he been scoring in the league. seems like a bit of a liverpool spin to try and say, this is an everton player atm, we'll try and make him look average, whilst a player who's just scored two - we'll try and make seem a word beater. bony's hold up is a bit too slow for our play. he takes way too many touches.

then we get onto the fact that lukaku has scored a smidgen under a goal every two games which they say is the mark of a good striker.

a good striker in his prime you pillock - not an up and coming 20 year old playing his first full season in the prem as a starter.

Interesting take on Lukaku, which begs the question, has Lukaku been a success for us? His initial run of goals was fantastic but he's been so far off the boil up until he got injured that it's been Jelavic-esque. For me, he'd need to hit another 8-10 goals minimum between now and the end of the season to be rated a great success.

I was an advocate of splashing a tonne of cash on him earlier in the season, but now I wouldn't want to pay over £15/16 million as you're paying for potential. There are probably cheaper options out there that are ready to go now and coming into their peak, and we really need a striker who can come in and hit the ground running. But another way of looking at it is do you turn down chance to sign a player with Lukaku's undoubted potential?

frankly we don't have the finances to splash what you would expect to be our whole budget on him. we need a few players tbh. think if he notches another 5/6 for the season, you have to say it's a success for someone we got on a loan.he'll end our top scorer anyway - we haven't created enough for him tbh, but you can tell the class is there.

I think we'll get him and have money for more players. I don't think Mourinho rates him highly enough for him to start regularly. The main problem imo will be this 'I need CL league' thing, but I still think we'll make it happen.

If we get Europa then he will come but if we don't, he won't come here. better offers

If we could get him on a structured deal then I'd be open to a permanent deal. I don't think Chelsea are going to let him leave for much less than £20m, and I doubt we'd pay everything up front in any transfer, let alone one potentially involving Lukaku. How would people feel about us say, putting £10m up front with a further £7m in performance based fees? Providing Chelsea would accept that, of course.

And if Lukaku wants Champions League football and to start every week then he's not going to get it in any of the top 3 leagues (Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga). I think he'd be lucky to get in with a top team in Serie A to be honest. Would he get in to Monaco or PSG's teams? PSG no but possibly Monaco. He needs a bit of a reality check I think.

He needs to start scoring more I reckon, obvious to state but we need a goal scorer.

Obviously someone to help him score might help.

yes, definitely.

He'd be the best striker at Chelsea, Leverkusen, and Schalke imo.
