sounds like too many of you are getting upset over this. Lukaku is a super talent but still very young and with that comes an unfortunate tendency to get himself in trouble with his words. He is ambitious and wants to be the best.. there nothing wrong with vocalizing that. I think too often things he says get misconstrued and taken out of context. For instance, his supposed downplaying of the apparent nazi gesture Nicolas Anelka made. He was sticking up for a player he idolized as a youngster not condoning Anelka's actions, but the media twisted things in a way to make a story. Lukaku is obviously a bit naive when being interviewed and needs to be more careful with statements he makes. Hopefully, he will choose his words more carefully as he matures. You have to remember he is far from fully developed as a player both on and (in this case) off the pitch.

I like lukaku and obviously would love it if we could sign him in the summer for a reasonably expensive price but from what I've seen this season from him, he is not ready to lead the line of a top champions league side.

A lot of improving needs to be done to his overall game and IMO he should be getting this mastered before worrying about not being in the CL at 20yrs old or whatever he is. Again IMO another year with us and Europe league football wouldn't do him any harm at all.

The players he talks about/compares career's to (Rooney Ronaldo) may have been playing CL at his age but they were more rounded complete players who were doing it week in week out in the PL. Lukaku is not doing it week in week out, nor is he a complete player.

Maybe his words have been took out of contex. Maybe he was meaning as a personal goal he wished to be playing CL at this age so it's down to himself to be good enough for that role....as apposed to he needs a bigger club to provide it.

Given Kone's injury, really wish we'd of kept victor this season. Would of kept lukaku on his toes more too.

Don't disagree at all on that.

Liverpool need about three or four signings though if they really want to solidify themselves up near the top though at the current set up just isn't good enough. A CB, a RB, and one or two midfielders. And they can't spunk the money like they did on Carroll and Allen. They've got to be really astute about it.

Lukaku won't go to them if he isn't playing you clown. They wont spend 20m on someone to only play if someone gets injured also
