Can't be arsed checking the rest of the thread, but it's surely not just me who thought he'd been a lazy b*stard for the last few weeks, including yesterday.
Livened up after his goal though, hopefully a kick up the arse he needed.

Lukaku has netted 26 goals in the Premier League since the start of last season, a haul only Luis Suarez (42) and Robin van Persie (33) can better.

I think that means hes the 3rd best Striker in the World?

I came here to talk about him 'running the channels' on Sunday and I see it's already being talked about.

It's good to see players working hard and tracking back, but isn't that what Jelavic was doing when he stopped scoring?

The much maligned James Beattie did it, too.

OK, Rom' managed to score and could've had a couple more with any luck, but this 'work ethic' thing needs to be watched
because scoring goals is what he's here for and he needs to be in the goalmouth to do that.

Romelu Lukaku insists Everton are closing the gap on the likes of his parent club Chelsea and should not be 'shy' about their Premier League title ambitions

Romelu Lukaku says Everton should be considered genuine Premier League title contenders, claiming there is little difference in quality between the Merseysiders and his parent club Chelsea.

Everton head into 2014 in fourth, and while there has been plenty of debate as to whether neighbours Liverpool are in the title race, Roberto Martinez’s side are closer to the top than their rivals at the halfway stage.

Lukaku says he knew after one training session at Everton he had joined a club capable of qualifying for the Champions League, but after ending a five-game goal drought with the winner against Southampton on Sunday, he set loftier ambitions.

“You can say we are outsiders for the title now. You don’t need to be shy about that,” said Lukaku. “You have got to when you look at our points. I knew from the first day that I arrived on the training ground and trained with the team. The quality is here.

“Chelsea was top but Everton is getting there. There is not a lot of difference and that is why I think I made a good choice.

“In the new year we have to be consistent and work and work and change those draws into wins and then it will be fine. We are showing great consistency in our performances and mentally we are very strong. We are improving on the things that the team didn’t have last year so that is a good sign. If we are more ruthless we will end definitely in the top four.”

Lukaku admits he has found the challenge of playing every fixture gruelling. In previous years he was not given the same responsibility as at Goodison Park.

“I have found it hard at some points. After the United game I felt I wasn’t as sharp and as fresh as at the start when I had something like seven league goals in eight games,” he said.

“Since my time at Anderlecht, and I am talking three years ago, I haven’t played this amount of games. I knew that if I didn’t score I had to defend for the team or give an assist. I knew that I would score sooner rather than later because of the work I did.

“Sometimes because I am a threat when I am facing the goal, I have noticed that teams want to keep me with my back to the goal. It is a nice challenge for me to move much better and not stay in one position.”

From tomorrow's telegraph, with similar in other papers. Its great to hear a player say we can go for, and should be considered for, the title.

Also out in bold a bit relating to what a lot of people have been saying in here, he looks tired, but hats because he's never played this much first team football. Definitely need someone in to support him in January, however he did look a different player once he knocked that goal in.

he has it all fair play. would prefer to see him constantly in the centre instead of dragging out to the wings, but we have two-out of form wingers atm. Not sure it happened too much when delafeou was on the pitch because you could trust him to use the touchline appropriately.

From the Daily Mail. Similar to the Telegraph, but liked the bit about Jags. :)

Romelu Lukaku has urged his Everton team-mates to develop a ruthless streak and told them the reward will be a place in next season’s Champions’ League.

After returning to the scoresheet with the winning goal against Southampton on Sunday, on-loan Chelsea striker Lukaku insisted a top-four finish was within Everton’s grasp and even claimed they could be considered outsiders for the title.

‘I don’t think we are surprised by the way this season has gone, because we know we have quality,’ he said. ‘When we are on the pitch, we work hard and run for each other and try to be ruthless. That last part, becoming more ruthless, is what we have to work on in the second half of the season.

‘If we are more ruthless we will end definitely in the top four. Definitely. We have two losses and a lot of wins. In the games we drew we weren’t ruthless enough, so if you change that and become more ruthless it becomes more wins, and then we are up there. I am not surprised we are top four contenders.

‘In fact, you can say we are outsiders for the title now. You don’t need to be shy about that. You have got to when you look at our points. I knew from the first day I arrived on the training ground and trained with the team. I called my agent and dad and said: “We did something very good here."

‘I was so impressed. Chelsea was top but Everton is getting there. There is not a lot of difference and that is why I think I made a good choice. I knew after that first training session, after seeing the quality in the squad. I didn’t want to say anything to the players, but then I spoke to Phil Jagielka on the bus after the West Ham game, and said: “This year we will do something special because you are all special players. And I am not saying this because I want to be friends with you guys, but I have trained with the best players, in my eyes, in the country, and I’m telling you, you are not far from it.”

‘Phil just laughed, but I was very serious and now we are showing a lot of great performances. In the New Year we have to be consistent and work and work and change those draws into wins and then we will be up there.’
