Doesnt play for us but I'd say Paul Scholes is probably up there regarding that. Probably the most undderated and best English international midfielder and professional footballer in the modern game. Head down, keeps things on the pitch, brought through the man Utd academy, will end his career there.

If there were more like him (and your Cahill's etc) [Poor language removed] like being called a modern slave wouldnt be branded around.

Cheeky bastards........

Come walk a mile in my boots.......Debts,hard job, no money,Tryin to do best for kids etc.....

Ye like fukk.

well said sharpy,
these guys have no concept of reality. in fact some of them have very short memories, shrek blowing that amount on his wedding, his arl fella and other relations must be wondering what the fecks goin' on, i'll bet some of his rels would rather have had the cash than the invite.
this ronaldo business, like you say spend a month or so in our lives, get in touch with reality. a slave........my hairy arse, he should be dropped by his sponsors for saying that, and blurter.....he should be voted out by the fifa associations for even suggesting it.

To be honest though, Blatter hates the english FA and the Premier League so he'd say anything to have a go. He said when the season finished that the Premier League is ruining football because of the amount of forgien players overshadowing home grown talant, so he probably thought that saying Ronaldo was a modern slave was down to the fact our clubs wont let the forgien players bugger off to another country if they want to.

Welcome to my world Sharpey,I was first disalusioned by players as a kid in 1960s stood in the pouring rain outside Goodison waiting for the players coach returning from training and when asking Bingham for his autuograph the prick told me to [Poor language removed], Give Jimmy Gabriel his due he took my book in and got them ALL to sign it shoot forward to last season and the son in law(a comedian and a r/s) was doing a charity gig along with some explayers so he decides to get their autographs for me Dave Hickson my all time hero signed ,Dave Watson same then he asked Mountfield and he demands a £10 to sign so the son in law phoned me to ask dd I think it was worth it told him to tell him to [Poor language removed] off for the record the R/S there all signed.so my opinion of players is not very high.(n)

£10 for a signature, jeez is he that hard up? Thats just embarrasing.

I was 9 and had sneaked out of school with my big cousin 11:lol: funny thing about him he spoke in a broad Irish accent then years later returned as manager with completely different accent the son in law could not speak more highly of the two Daves and said they both looked disgusted at Mountfield. annoying thing is I bought a shirt signed by him years ago and only gave it away when I moved into the bungalow I would have used it to wash the car with now

Saying that to a 9 year old fan, what an idiot.

Sorry you feel that way teppic. But my loyalty is to the club mate. I go week in week out home an away. An really i cant afford it, but my love of everton makes sure im their. When the boys play in blue i support them with my heart mate. But i have no loyalty to them (the playes).

If their not good enough is say.I wont beat round the bush because the play for us. An if the want to go, let them go.

Hope you understarnd what i mean.

sure thing, buddy.

perhaps i have not become as jaded yet as i still jump to any players' defence. perhaps it is in the post. i have already lost any loyalty or desire to see the england team do well. the whole WAGS thing really does irritate me.

you have to ask yourself why you have come to your conclusion. i can understand an individual experience with a particular player that might tarnish the reputation of the entire squad (like coyney's experience) but is it mere jealousy? i accept the fact that they are entertainers and for the most part very good at their profession. i then therefore accept that we live in a society that rewards handsomely people who can provide this entertainment.

Quid pro quo

I understand what Sharpey is about. One thing, though, is that there is some loyalty knocking about. I would argue that a lot of our senior squad is loyal to a degree and enjoy giving their all for the fans. I'm thinking of Yobo, Johnson, Arteta, Lescott and Neville in particular. These guys have given great service and unless they do a "Rooney" I will always respect their attitude, no matter where they end up playing in the future.

On the other hand, there are a lot of shtty attitudes out there, particularly in the so-called big four teams. There is also a lot attitude in the management game today. Chief prick in my opinion is Rafael who's probably the most undignified little man in the premier league. SAF also needs a kicking.

Nailed on.

I too agree to a degree with Sharpy about the state of the modern game, including the footballers themselves but when I look at the Everton squad, I'm very pleased with the type of people we have playing for us.

I alluded to this in my post in the "Phil Neville" thread that while Neville isn't our best footballer by a country mile, he's is a fantastic representative of Everton FC and it's supporters. He isn't alone in that respect.

Our players love playing for us. Johnson has publicly stated that he doesn't want to leave. Arteta has publicly stated that he doesn't want to leave.

I can't help but think that what Moyes has built has contributed to the overall attitude of our players and that they WANT to play for Everton as opposed to going where the grass may be greener.

I don't know if it's really happened yet but I'd say it's a matter of time before Everton start attracting players not only because of how we're doing year in and year out but because of who we are.

Sorry but a bit of a tangent there.

I agree to a point, but i dont think its as black and white. Fans are as fickle as clubs or players.

Over the past three months we have had threads on how [Poor language removed] Hibbert, Neville, Ossie are with some willing to get rid of them. Other threads on Cahill, Arteta, Vaughan, Baines being injured and some people are looking to sell them, madness. If i was a player reading club forums id be thinking, Why the F""k should i be loyal, im not appreciated.

On this issue i think its impossible to take the moral high-ground, fans, clubs, players are all out for the best possible outcome for themselves, anything to do with football is fickle including us!

HOW DARE YOU we aren't kopites:lol::lol:

These players, these days must be having a laugh. They get huge amouts of cash for wages. They live in huge houses, an drive cars we can only dream of. They have the fittest birds you can find. The work [Poor language removed] hrs, an live the pop-star life. The life of riley you might say.

Now us poor bastartds, work 40hr + week. Pick up [Poor language removed] money, which is taxed to fukk. Live in ok house, drive ok cars an most just keep their head above water weekin/week out. It's a hard stressfull life for most. YET.....we spend what liitle cash we have left on watching are Hero's. The boys in blue.

Thing is, you must realise most of the player could'nt give a [Poor language removed] about you. Now granted not every player is like this, but at least 90% are. They dont care whats going on at the club as long as they pick up their 40k a week plus bonus. If a better offer came in, they would go. No though of us evertonians that spend all are doe on watching them. It's all about them an what they can get.

Now getting to the point............their are a lot of people on here that are to loyal to players. e.g AJ. Now he's just plain not good enough, but because he plays for everton people say "no good player lets keep him". No lets not, get rid an get some one better in. Same with Neville really (who i do like) He's just not good enough, but people sick up for him no matter what. Forget loyalty, they dont give it to us. If their not good enough, GET RID.

To much loyalty is shown to players that aint good enough. An would leave at a drop of a hat for an extra few quid. Even players that you bring from the duldroms (barmby, keown, speed) an reserect their career.

Now as i get older, im not a fan of players. Their just to greedy an most the time just take the piss. Yakubu (not coming back from ACON) Fernanders (fukked us off at the last moment) VDM (nuff said). This all started when Keown left for Arsenal. He was my fav player, I cryed at school an was riped by the r/s. I saw his interview an it made me so mad at how much he did'nt care about us. An id given him my tears.

So loyalty for players.....i have none. The king is dead, long live the king i say. If someone wants to go. Show em' the door.

It's the club EVERTON FC i love an im totaly loyal to. Its the fans an what we stand for. That makes me go back week after week. The fans make the club not the players. So please dont let loyalty cloud you view. If we can get rid to become better, lets do it!!

You may say im a synic, i probably am!!

Hope i have'nt wasted to much of your time. What do you think.?

You talk a lot of sense there Sharpy as a match going United fan the Ronaldo thing lately has done my head in.

But I think loyalty is a two way thing and if players show it they should get it back

Scholes and Giggs for me are Loyal down to earth lads who have been great for my club

Beckham, Ronaldo and co are not fit to lace their boots

I think it does make a difference if you are a local lad

This sort of attitude in cossetted and well paid players has been around for years. I've a mate who - as a child - stood outside GP waiting for Bobby Moore to descend from the West Ham coach. On asking for his autograph Moore - England captain, pin up boy and everyones's ideas of the perfect gentleman - said "P**s off, kid". My mate was devastated, of course. Fast foward a good few years and my mates at his local squash club and is asked by a guy for a game as his opponent hasn't turned up - it was Bobby Moore. So my mate plays squash with him - Moore was supremely competitive. BM offers to shake hands after the game. My mate says "[Poor language removed] off. You refused me your autograph when I was a kid,you [Poor language removed]."...and walks off the court leaving an open mouthed Moore standing.

I liked Moore as a player and leader and we should respect the departed so I hope I haven't tarnished his image too much.
