I used to knock about with a lad who lived in Easton, and drinking there and St Pauls always felt safer than some places in Southmead. Go figure eh?
I know, that and always seemed to see trouble on Park Street (though to be fair I used to avoid Park Street more due to the fact I’m lazy and it’s ridiculously steep)

When the time is right lets get a rope around these and smack them with the soles of our shoes....

I havnt been drinking in the city centre for years. Kids and life and that. But Park Street, 30 odd years ago, could be a very stabby place. Easton, St Pauls, and Clifton Village were all sound as.

That is most definitely the reason. I imagine a few conversations went along the lines of 'well it's a problem solved'

That is deffo the feeling I am getting from chats and the local press.

It was a hugely powerful image, and in reality, No Harm Done/problem solved.

Allow me to adjust my hat for a moment:

Disgraceful you condone vandalism mate!

Not gonna lie, when I saw it yesterday, I didnt like it.

On reflection, different gravy. Bristol is a really really unracist city, and the fact that the police chief and the mayor have essentially echoed what pretty much everyone has said/thought, underlines that.

Feel a bit proud of my adopted home actually.

Are you aware of the structure of BLM?

Because it's not really a centralised organisation so much as a number of dispirate groups uniting under one cause.

There are lots of people distancing themselves from violent protests and looking for peaceful marches.

And I think we need some perspective here, these protests aren't targeting cenotaphs - one kid jumped on it and tried to set fire to a flag while others were telling him to get down.

Statutes - Churchill and a slave trader. One has a very divisive role in British society and the other was a statue of a slave trader who happened to use his money from enslaving one group of people to provide charity to others. The statue will hardly be missed.

Flag burning - I don't know why that's such a big deal? We're people just burning flags?
Somebody burnt a Union Jack that I believe may have been taken from a cenotaph.

The issue is, many people in this country associate the BLM with these acts of vandalism. Whoever did them seemingly did so in the name of or in support of BLM.

Somebody somewhere, perhaps an individual but more likely a group of people , have organised these events, and those people have to take responsibility and distance themselves from these events. Do you not agree

No, some blert tried to set fire to one of the flags on the Cenotaph and it didn’t even singe.

There were protestors shouting for him to stop and that was that.

I can’t say I’ve seen anyone condoning anything barring the lobbing of the slave trader statue, which I have no issue with.
