Current Affairs London Protests

I just don’t understand the logic if I’m honest . Somebody killed someone right , So why would there be protests ? Was is part of hundreds of years of systemic abuse or indicative of the state holding down Or oppressing a community whether real or perceived ?

What would be the aim of the protest ? If it’s to draw attention to the issues of domestic abuse then it could make sense otherwise I just don’t get it , should we have protests after every murder ? If you genuinely can’t see why members of a community are angry then that’s one thing but false comparisons like this just make zero sense and seem deliberately obtuse.
I’ll call it what it is mate, pea brained whataboutery

And what posters we have.

The social distancing rules allow gatherings of upto 6 staying 2 metres apart. That is what he is referring to as you well know. Enough ministers have repeated it over the weekend.

The message is also trying to calm the situation and also states explicitly that he believes the cause and the perpetrators are not the same.
He's still wrong about the law

You've got it the wrong way round..

The world shouldn't need more people willing to forgive acts of violence and racism.

The world needs more equality in society and fewer police who think their uniform gives them the power to do as they please with no accountability for their actions.
And what I'm saying is that you are more likely to get that from dignity and forgiveness than you are from violence and destruction

A bloke acting like a bobble head and trying and failing to light up one of the Cenotaph flags, doesn’t define the protests or the people who took part. The fact that picture has had so much coverage in certain areas, ahead of everything else, tells it’s own story.
I have just seen the video of it, the riot police pop up seconds later.

I can make one!

It's interesting how people who are getting wound up by the burning of a flag which probably gets replaced a few times a year, because of what it represents, don't understand the symbolism of taking down the statue.

If it was about public funds and erasing of history, surely the statue should still be the bigger deal here?

Can't they just buy another flag from a tourist shop around the corner or something?

Well in my opinion it’s scummy behaviour mate . I’m supportive of the protest in lots of ways and I’ll even be understanding of things in them I don’t necessarily agree with .

I’m not a fan of poppy fascism , although I’ll be honest I’ve even shifted some of my opinions around the protest surrounding it over time . However the cenotaph represents a tribute to people who’ve died in my case both family and friends and in both circumstances I’ve mentioned working class lads . There was zero need for that act . Any protesters targeting Jewish or Muslim places of worship or cemeteries I’ll call out for the vermin they are and this feels exactly the same . If people want to protest what they see as militaristic tributes by turning their back or whatever protest they feel is respectfully appropriate then fine but doing that feels scummy . As I’ve said before I also don’t think it helps the cause I think it sets it back or at least it acts as a recruiting sergeant for those that oppose its aims .

I appreciate others may disagree but that being my opinion doesn’t make me some right wing dick .
