They all despise Kuyt but like I've always said, I'd love him at us. He's their version of Cahill in many ways, never lacking effort and he gets the big goals.

Always terrorises us.

This.

The feller is always in motion. Typical know-nothing Kopites. He's head and shoulders their most consistent performer.

I think it was a big mistake bringing on Arteta after the Fellaini injury. Arteta is probably the most technical guy on the team and always tries his best to avoid physical challenges. With him on, there was no one who could match up to the strong, a-hole filled Liverpool midfield. Putting Heitinga on Fellaini's place would have been a downgrade offensively, but he's a great tackler as well.

Howard has been getting a lot of crap for the goal, but in my opinion Neville is to blame. You can't let someone annoy your keeper like that and his coverage sucked too.

All in all, an awful game from both sides.

With hindsight, Id rather Fella had stayed on and that tackle never happened.

I said that at the time and on here at half time. Onus went on us and Fellaini is too instrumental.

Just as Liverpool had a shower of spineless shithouses in the 90s Derbies, now we have them.

Shameful they are...and clueless...but mostly shameful.

Agree. They just seem to want it more than us - like we did in the 90's.

How many times have we beaten Rafael? twice?

Three including the cup game last season.

He's up a ratio of about 5:1 on Moyes. Fair enough they have the investment that they should win the majority...but not by that margin.

Thank **** the hoorible [Poor language removed] is on his way.

Massively disagree there mate. We have the players who can pass the ball, we just didn't do that today, we ******* hoofed it constantly - like we always do against Liverpool.

We don't do counter attack. Most of the time we got possesion we are happy to lay it back and build up from the back. This allow them to reorganise and we find ourselves with no attacking options because they are so compact and mark out all our wide options. We end up reverting to hoof inevitably.

Not to mention let him stand goal side right beside your keep. But ofcourse if i was Howard I would have elbowed him in the face and blamed it on a twitch.

We can still pass the ball through midfield. You don't need to play counter attacking football to pass.

Very disappointing show today. Howard was distracted by Kuyt stood infront of him and didn't see the ball coming in, to give away the softest of goals.

Are we counting Yakubu's effort on the turn (that Reina had plenty of time to tip over) and Anichebe's pop from a tight angle (when the pull back was the ball to play) as our only attempts on goal in 90 minutes? Very depressing.

Personally, I would have moved Neville into the holding position to drive the team forward and to shield against Liverpool counter-attacks once Fellaini went off. That would have allowed us to bring Coleman on to give us some width on the right flank. Phil's problem at full back is that he doesn't have the pace or trickery to beat a younger opponent and get to the byeline to deliver a cross. With Donovan all too often tucking inside, there was no ball down the line for him to play, so his only options were a predictable diagonal ball to the edge of the box or a pass into the feet of Osman or Arteta who, themselves, are able to do very little with their back to goal.

Moyes took too long to break from four at the back as well. What use are a quartet of defenders when only Ngog is posing any threat to our goal? Baines should have been given license to get forward and operate as a left winger. Leighton does need to learn that he doesn't need to beat a man every time. He just needs to find a yard of space to swing the ball in.

I'm not keen on the apparent recent tactic of allowing Donovan, Pienaar and Arteta/Bily the freedom to wander as they please. Inevitably, they get drawn into the middle looking for the ball, meaning that there's no wide option. Fair enough, let Pienaar move inside, as it opens the wing up for Baines. I feel that Donovan should be more disciplined on the right hand side though.

It was a nice enough idea putting two forwards on for the lacklustre Saha, but both Anichebe and Yakubu are very rusty. With no service from midfield, they were unlikely to be able to create too much for themselves through hustle and bustle.

The commentator made the point that we're not short of quality, but that we're predictable and fail to find space on the pitch. Those are managerial issues (tactics and coaching). I do hope that the penny drops for our esteemed manager before too long.

The only positive performance for me today was from Heitinga. Again he looked composed, unflustered and in command.

This.

For some reason putting on Arteta was not a good play.
