I think you massively overstate your influence. You have none. Everton fans generally are getting jittery, even though its only mid July because they see a lot of teams buying players, even though the majority of purchases we'd stick our noses up at them.

Its the culmination of continued summers where we have not made the type of purchases needed to make that big step up.

Its the bottom end of a boil at the moment and if we make no purchases, the outcry won't be led by an organised group. but by what people are doing now, going on radio, challenging articles in newspapers, raising concerns in forums. Some have even come up with good ideas.

You might like to think the board is stupid, but really you know it isn't.

Do you think the board were clever or stupid when they sold Kilbane for £2.5m?

We can play semantic Board room all night long if you want, but it get's pretty boring hearing the same "the Board done me wrong" song. I think you know the point I was trying to make.

your kidding? from what i put you answer with kilbane? how the hell can i take anything else you say seriously after that?

From the conjecture I hear and the facts we all know (as sirblue57 has pointed out), there's little doubt that our current board, in terms of knowing what the word "progression" is, are either completely stupid, or painfully stingy. Probably both.

He'll probably hate me for this but I'm taking the 'no news is good news' approach regarding the none existance of an LCAB post telling us it aint gune happen

Eh! Wigan offered the money - all our board had to do was accept - If Wigan had offered £500k our board would have accepted, as they have no clue about the semantics of contract and transfer negotiations. (e.g Fernandes, Gosling), in short they are totally clueless when it comes to running a top-flight football team.

If you are using the example of Kilbane to justify your stance on the board's ability then you are truly a total WUM, because I cannot take you seriously.

This is yet another thread that has turned to criticising the board, there's a thread for that lids. Please keep it there.

Back on topic, I'd love Lewis to sign, he's a high quality player.

Would really love to believe that this could happen. The extra dimension that he would bring to our attack, with him being something totally different to what we have on the left of midfield, would surely enable us to be more 'go get um' at home than we usually are. Plus the balance that this would bring to the team would bring out the best in Mikel, Felli and Rodders.................but what the feck do I know hey

I've used Kilbane as part of a series of examples. Interesting how you take the one you want to beat me over the head. Unless you have some inside knowledge or have specific details of the bid, we don't know how the price was reached. What we do know is that a player worth no more than £500,000 was sold for £2.5m.

It could be that Wigan have no sense or value of money, but Dave Whelan is no fool, which is what you are suggesting. All we know is that Kilbane was sold well above his value and all I tried to do was atttribute this to the board on the basis that if they are responsible for the bad, they must also be responsible for the good.

But hey, we now have a feeding frenzy and reason has gone out of the window.

If you and Sirblue want to hold onto your view, your welcome to it.

Anyone who is prepared to spunk £2.5 million pounds on Kilbane should in my opinion be committed - with all due respect, following the toughest negotiations in the world, if you had half-a-brain you would still not agree to that valuation of Kilbane.

It must have been like taking candy from a baby, and in no way should it reflect on the capabilities of our board to negotiate a successful transfer.

Dont know if theres any other threads about him but hes a very good player, Out of contract next summer and only wants to play for us. If theres any other threads please merge (Sorry).
