Do we know that? Or is it speculation? The "a player must be sold first before Everton buy". Is this something you have proof of, or is it made up? Cheers.

really? have you not been paying attention?

The Guardian Rumour Mill reports -

"Finally, several websites are reporting that Everton are going to sign someone but that sounds very far-fetched. Still, it is our duty to report that Schalke wideman Lewis Holtby and Real Madrid slinker Sergio Canales are targets for a club that traditionally recruits fewer people than the Saharan branch of Snow Ploughs R Us."

I just thought it was quite funny.

Slinker? What position is that?

Do we think that a loan for him would be a possibility ??

Its possible. He was on loan at Mainz this season just gone and Schalke have a decent amount of midfielders. I would assume they want him this season as he did so well last year but its certainly worth a try.

I really cant see us getting him for 7M though. Probably double that, although the German market has always been a strange one.

What ?

It's not fabrication at all, since when is it not acceptable to base one's opinion on past experiences, especially when there has been no sign of any change ?

This opposition to empirical observation is similar to the Black Toffee school of thought that one should not speculate as to what may happen until after it has happened (although BT does take this rule a radical step forward by suggesting that even then the facts of what has just been observed to happen can only be as outlined within an official statement).

It is "refreshing" that this forum can generate such left field and controversial theorems.

I thought that LCAB had stated that we had a pot, albeit a small one, that was available now. The issue was do we spend it or wait till we sell in order to make it a larger amount thus meaning we can go for better quality !

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me (y)[/QUOTE

You think the way I used to mate a good few transfer windows back before I realised how much we where struggling financially , where do you suspect the money from the sale of Bellfield has gone ( ringfenced) ?????? , I feel sorry for honest genuine Evertonians because this is how the club treat us , if you believe that ^ your gunna be dissapointed just like I've been the previous 3/4 transfer windows , because our level of debt is rising( god knows how or why) any money which comes to the club such as ( Kitbag.com, Chang spons ,Bellfield, Pienarr money , James Vaughn money , I suspect Yobo & Yak money would go exact the same way , the only possible way which we would be in a position to sign any players would be if we sold Jack Rodwell for about 15 million which is all we would get considering he's not even a UND 21's regular so until then we can pretty much write off transfer rumours for Everton except at a push the odd loan signing if Boys Penn Bill could manage that

Top quality that from the Guardian, not getting into **** fest thats ongoing but having "Slinker" and "Saharan Snow ploughs R Us" in same piece helped me smile today.

i don't see the point in journalists wasting their time writing transfer stories about us. As if we a) have 7bob never mind 7million to get this guy, b) as if we can afford a loan fee and wages for Canales, even if the story was true which I very much doubt.

We should just be resigned to the fact that we are going into the new season without new players and that 3 key players (Saha, Felli and Arteta) will get injured in the first 8 games and the season will be over until a late rally gives us hope again for the season after.

Having said that, this summer has been positive for 2 main reasons. 1) we never signed wes brown and 2) we never signed Jay bothroyd
