Ledson to leave Everton?

I posted before that the only club Koeman has played kids has been at Feyenoord when he was forced to do so.

He only focuses on winning games rather than mid-long term.

I hope alot of the decisions on players are made by Walsh and Unsworth when it comes to u21s.

Before I make my point I will state that I have never witnessed Ledson play. I only tend to know of the youngsters from hearing various things online and seeing them if they get a run in the first team.

But regarding the bit in bold, if what you're suggesting is true, then why did Koeman give Davies and Holgate a chance during pre-season? Of all the youngsters i've seen have a run in the first team lately, Davies looks to be the one who is closest to making it in the Premier League. Obviously Holgate is having a run of games at the moment and has looked comfortable, but that is more due to injuries to other players like Galloway and Browning being given a run last season (which you did state). But I do think all of those 4 have the ability to be Premier League players though from what I have seen and Koeman clearly thinks that about Davies and Holgate.

If you look at Dowell, who is also quite highly rated, he obviously isn't held in as high regard as Davies at this moment in time. If Ledson was good enough, he would have been given a chance as well.

Also time for people on here to stop going over the top with praise before these youngsters have even played at the top level for a significant amount of games.

I'll be really pissed if he's sold, yes his development may have slowed down but the kid only turned 19 four days ago, how on earth can we be making the call he's no longer going to make it? He be a tiny wage and we'd really struggle to even make make a million off selling him.

I fail to see any reason to justify moving him on?!

...I'm afraid it comes to a point where decisions have to be made on youngsters, if we kept them on 'just in case' we would have too many professionals on our books. It's why injuries and a dip in form at crucial stages in a career can have a major impact, not least because other youngsters are impressing and climbing the ladder. If the coaches don't see a future for him at the club then he has to move on. Sad but reality I'm afraid.

I hope Koeman isn't going to be a cheque book manager. It seems a bit ludicrous to post that given he has no net spend yet, but I dont like the early signs in terms of either respecting what we have coming through the academy or pausing before moving on players that he should consider making better players and keeping.

These are things that with any sign of a poor run will come back to bite him on the arse.

We are a club that rightly prides itself on bringing through talent (especially local talent). It's not just about saving cash in the transfer market it's also about preserving an organic link between club and fans who get a buzz out of seeing one of their own coming through the ranks.

As said, early days on the Koeman blueprint and hopefully it doesn't veer top wildly away from our M.O. of the past.

To me, Dowell has the best football brain of the kids coming through. I'd like to see him get a lot of game time to bring that through for the benefit of the first team very quickly. He's undoubtedly a top talent. If that lad isn't getting near the pitch then there has to be something wrong.

Not every single player coming through the academy will make it in the premiership. At the moment I think we are doing better than most.
Holgate and Davies seem to be part of the squad.
Galloway sent out to another Premiership club to build his experience.
I think Pennington was impressing before his injury, but I don't think Dowell showed enough in pre season to push for a place, but , he is still very young and probably needs to go out on loan.

Ryan Ledson seems to have stalled somewhat and been passed out by those mentioned above and others. This happened before RK was appointed and was commented on regularly here last season.
He probably does need to move and start building a career. I am sure Everton will put something in pace to give us a return in the event of him being sold in the future.

No one did enough to nail down a starting place in those horrendous pre-season games.

I agree Dave that Dowell has that extra something , however, I thought he was disappointing in the pre season games I saw.
Last summer(2015) he played a couple of pre season games in Scotland and his class practically jumped out of the television screen.

This summer I watched the pre season games again and it was different, he didn't impress.
Maybe, the team played in a different way under RK , I am not sure why but at the moment I don't think he is ready.
Again, I think a season long loan with a good championship footballing side would be of huge benefit to him.

If Koeman was after someone like Mata then I dont think the changeover from Martinez to him is going to make it a system difference. The lad had a bad injury last season. I wouldn't downplay how that may have affected him.

As said, the preseason games were a disaster for all who played in them. I wouldn't read too much into Dowell in particular not shining in them.

Shocked if he is let to leave. Little while back reflected that per the Martinez model he is further along than Davies and pure chance really got Davies into the first team v Norwich when it easily could have been him. Catcher mentioned something similar now I note.
I feel it would be mistake to let him go. He needs a loan to a championship side. I feel this is more bad luck and timing than a reflection on his talent. I have been shocked before but I thought this guy was a banker not long ago. He has been more and more periphery where we were wondering if he was injured or why he was left out. Guess those clues add up now.

With him chosen for England again I thought he was back in the spotlight... Hope it works out for him and its with us!

This is one of the main reasons why i dont rate him. Rarely stays at clubs (usually sacked) and doesnt bring kids through.

Can see Holgate dropped if we sign Kone and then Coleman and Baines fixtures with backups signed rather than kids.

Has had cleverley come on before davies...

Strange he can come back after U19 games and quickly moved on...doesnt make much sense unless unsworth is behind it and doesnt thing he will make it.

He needs games to develop his career. Wasted in under 21s.

Prefer to sell with a future buy back clause and if he develops in the next two years, get him back.
