I've read all Kenada Blues posts where he states that because Baines hasn't played at the very highest level he can't be considered world class but still can't figure out why that stops his talent from being as good as any other player in that position.

If you're the best guitarist in the world it doesn't matter if you play in your own bedroom or in front of 100,000 people headlining Glastonbury.

If the talent is there its there.

There's a BIG difference between saying Leighton Baines is world class and TONY HIBBERT is.

Zidane and Pele were the very best in the world in any position, Baines is among the best two or three in the world in his position. World class as a label suits all three of them, imo though obviously there's a huge gap in quality.

This isn't knee jerk, Baines has been top notch for years now.

I had this debate recently with a Liverpool supporting friend of mine, who disagreed with me. I believe he'd slot in to any side in the World and not look out of place, the lad's World Class.

It's not often we can say that about one of our players, let's enjoy it.

World Class does not mean Greatest ever. World class means you're one of the best players in the world in your position. Chiellini is a world class centre back, but he's obviously not as good a footballer as Pele or Zidane. But nobody is saying that, because they're not idiots.

I do genuinely struggle to find a player who is better than Baines at LB. He is just boss and its amazing that im able to watch a world class player play for my club.

The term 'world class' has no specific meaning anyway. It's just a cover all term to describe anyone class by a lazy media.

The thing what Baines has over most of his peers is that he is amazingly consistent, perhaps because he's so good, so often he doesn't always get the credit he deserves.
