Alba is a good player and will be superb when he gets older but im sorry, he isnt above Baines. Not having it. Also, Clichy? The fella who cant get in the first team ahead of Kolarov hahaha.

Mancini rotate's his full backs, he does it to with his right back's, he had a few iffy years at Arsenal but looks class now.

I said before with the Cantona thing in regards to titles when you mentioned di Stefano and Southall.

And to a point, yeah. If Baines, as he is now with his goals etc, was integral to a championship winning side, he'd be certainly in with being a world class player in my book. He'd certainly overtake Cole for the England spot.

What if he went to Man U, didn't play as well as he does for us (in terms of assists, tackles etc) and in general opinion of observes (fans, pundits, journos etc) but Man Us superior squad helped them win the league?

I can see why you might prefer the more experienced player in your team at the highest level when 2 players are the same qulaity, but when it comes to comparing players and ranking them i don't see how experience can have any influence, its all about ability.

No, he'd need to perform as he is now and be integral to that team. That's where the problem comes in.

He went to United but wasn't as good, it'd prove he couldn't do it at a top level or that team didn't suit him. United would've bought him wanting what he can do now to win them titles and not be a passenger. We'd probably think a little less of him too

And I agree with you to a point, but I personally rate if a player has done it in big games, won titles etc regularly if we got down to the crunch. Needs to be a whole package within reason for me.

Cashley
Baines
Alba
Marcelo
Clichy

My top 5 LB's. Cashley just shades it for me, but if Baines carries on like he is, that'll change soon. However, I dont think any of the above players are world class - Cole has been, but isn't as good as he was 2/3 years back. Alba will be, and Marcelo/Clichy are quality. However, I really dont think there are any 'world class' LB's at the moment. Baines is well on the way though.

Surely world class means one of the best in the world. Somebody has to be one of the best in the world.
