LB - Left Back - Leighton Baines the best/world class?

Basically think I'd be a lot more worried if Baines was out of the derby, than if Fellaini was.

think baines is probably the best left back in england , over 30 goal scoring chances he has created this season so far more than any other player in the prem or in fact Europe .i think he is pretty irreplaceable if im honest because of what he brings to the team and his understanding with pienaar . tht undertstanding he has with pienaar cannot be under valued as pienaar creates so much space for baines to run forward and attack . hence the reason he not quite the same player with england as they dont have a player of pienaar quality on the left .

All your post tells me is that Baines needs Pienaar to look good..... Cole looks good wherever and with whoever he plays.

But actually he doesn't. certainly not often enough to be seen as clearly better than Baines

no not saying that at all , and as we all know baines was our best player last season anyway before pienaar came back . just saying pienaar enhances baines quality , brings out the best in him . cole i rate as a better defender , i.e. hardly gets beaten in a one on one and defensive positioning but does not hold a candle to baines as an attacking force . to be honest would not swap baines for another left back anywhere .

sorry i thought we was discussing him as a footballer and baines is by far and away a much better all round footballer than ashley cole , check the stats, will back it up .

Which makes my view as an outsider a more balanced view..... Cole is better...... he was better yesterday, better today and in all probability will be better tomorrow too.

Well it appears, allegedly, that Cole is off in January. Roman will want the best replacement so will surely put a ridiculous bid in for Baines. We can use some of that money to buy Sandell from Newport
