Last Film You Watched

Anybody else been watching that Roman Empire docuseries on Netflix about Commodus. Really good. A bit like Gladiator but with lot's of sex. Every now and then some knob comes on and gives you some historic spiel that spoils it a bit. Actually it doesn't spoil it at all really.

If you like your history and a bit of sex and violence, you'll enjoy this.;)

1984 - very grim. 6/10
Pompeii - Gladiator knock-off, set during the final days of Pompeii. 5/10
Copland - corrupt cop tale starring Stallone. Not bad. 7/10
Copland is arguably Stallone's best film, from an acting perspective. I don't think anything will beat Rocky for pure entertainment, but Copland was a genuinely good film, and he was perfectly cast.

Do you have an imdb link so i know what to look for?

Agreed mate! I saw it over the weekend and I'm still processing it tbh. There is an awful lot to unpack. Lovely performance by Amy Adams. Very high marks for visuals and musical score as well.
Yes, oh yes, I knew nothing about her before this week. If there's an oscar for being brilliant in a med-evac suit ..........
Going to to see her in Nocturnal animals tomorrow my "cinephile" son says he needs to see it again, my mate I was out with tonight enjoyed it so looking forward to it.

I've only been dimly aware of her career arc until recently. She is turning into a really first rate actress. It does not hurt of course that she is rather pleasing to the eye as well. Haven't heard of Nocturnal Animals so I'll have to check that out. Cheers!

Watched The Big Short yesterday, not bad. About the collapse of the US housing/mortgage market and how a few predicted it and made billions by betting against the market.

Really liked that, but quite depressing!

Just got done with this. Decent watch to be sure. The film has a wonderful ability to make you feel angry and powerless.

She's been around years mate but mainly in those romcoms my wife watches all the time (which means I have to too). First time I saw her play a character with a darker side was in American Hustle and she was really good.

Good in "The Fighter" with Mark Whalberg and Cristian Bale and in a film called "Doubt" with Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymore Hoffman.

Just watched Gary Oldman in 'Tinker, Tailor, etc'. having seen the BBC/Alec Guinness I give it 6/10, If I hadn't seen that prior it would be 6.9/10.

BBC's follow up 'Smiley's People' gets 11/10

He's a really good actor, although some of his films are a 'required taste' e.g. 'Synedoche, New York' and 'The Master' (which also stars, the equally talented Joaquin Pheonix).
