Last Film You Watched

Paprika is one of the most mind-boggling films I’ve ever seen.
Anime and animated films are often way too weird or way too standard. Paprika is definitely one of the former to the point I'm not sure if I liked it. The Evangelion films are great though imo, with the last one coming out today I think.

Under the Skin (on BBC relatively recently - on iPlayer)

My verdict was - Disappointing as promised better

There were positives in the atmospheric soundtrack, Edinburgh setting and a notable lead in Scarlett Johansson, but the film failed to engage beyond mild interest and intrigue as to who or what was the alien and it's purpose. The film dragged for me after the opening half hour with little storyline other than the central mystery, the second half hour almost a repeat of the first and the third likewise. An interesting film perhaps but one without much purpose and not something I would watch a second time.

The Prestige.
Excellent. Somehow missed this one. Can see Nolan beginning to make his mark.
The twist was very obvious in hindsight but was very cleverly crafted by way of distractions so that I didn’t see it till late. Really smartly entwined with the theme of the film.
On my list to watch, seems to have good reviews all round on here, looking forward to watching it.

The Illusionist came out around the same time with Ed Norton, another great film

A rip-snorter from go to woah.

Truly dreadful.

The Last Days of American Crime.

Based on a graphic comic, America has developed a radio signal that removes all criminal and violent impulses. A group of criminals decide to do one last job before the signal is activated.

It’s that bad, I’d rather rewatch Left Behind, with Nicolas Cage.
