Last Film You Watched

Continuing my sci-fi binge, last night I watched Gattaca. I remember being shown parts of it by my year 11 biology teacher but never watched it in-full before. It's not the most novel concept for setting but the story of the characters is good. A couple odd things feels like shortcuts by the writers but overall I really liked it. Its almost like a feature length Black Mirror episode.
Next up is Moon.

Never seen Gattaca but Moon is ace.

Loved the first one when it came out. Really enjoyed second guessing the deaths, and the clever ways ppl died/avoided death. Think the second one was ok, but didn't watch any of the others, because Hollywood sequels are absolute balls 99% of the time, and they defo came across as 'straight-to-dvd' efforts. Might have to check out 5 tho.
Really think 5 is the best of the bunch.
Found it today 6 is in the works so the series isn't dead yet.

Moon is brilliant

Spring breakers

It’s so, so close to being a great film but the script badly lets it down.

It’s looks great, there’s great performances throughout, and it’s spot on with its commentary of youthful exploration, and exploitation, but it just falls down at certain parts.

Feel like I could’ve watched it on mute and had the same experience.

Still, I did really enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone wanting a very dark, cynical teen coming of age movie.

Last night's sci-fi movie was Freaks (2019). For a movie with a really high critic rating (88% on tomatoes) I'd never heard of it till I saw it in a sci-fi movie list of 2019 releases. Its a relatively simple story but told in quite a smart way and probably has the best child actor performance I've seen in years.

Seen it before and yeah its still really good. Visuals are quite dated when he's out on the surface but its still a great movie.
