Last Film You Watched

Bit of fun.

Re-watched Come and See, which for me is one of the greatest films ever made. It's not an easy watch by any means, but it is an incredible piece of cinema. It follows a boy in 1943 Belarus as he joins the partisans in fighting the Nazis. It's just a brilliantly-made film, and it's hard to pick a fault with it. Every time I watch it, it takes days for me to shake it off... a horrific story that, as we so often say, happened not so long ago.
Been meaning to watch this for ages.
But I get the feeling it's one of those films you need to steel yourself before watching, I've heard it gets pretty heavy and your comments seem to agree with that.

Deffo on my 'to watch' list though

On Prime. Intriguing and well made low budget period scifi. @COYBL25 Be interested to know what you make of this.
Watched this last night, loved the atmosphere and 50s setting...just didn’t quite grab me and the old woman’s story affected the pacing a bit I felt
Yeah I know what you mean, it has that common affliction in films, great idea, doesn't know quite how to end it. Overall though I enjoyed it, like you I thought the setting was great, and not in a 'Back To The Future', 'hey its the 50's!' kind of way, felt very contemporary.
Have to say, I loved it. @COYBL25 you should defo give it a look

Watched this over two nights (fell asleep on night one during the old woman's story - blame it less on the story itself than having a toddler) and enjoyed it. Some really good dialogue that's unapologetically fast, and uninterested in trying to flesh out a story with cliches. The switchboard scenes and interview with "Bill" were excellent. I'll be interested to see what the director does next.

You definitely do need to steel yourself to watch it, and although it's a difficult watch, it's definitely worth it. I also like the fact that it's one of the lesser-known stories of WW2, at least to those of us in western Europe. Will be interested to hear your thoughts on it when you get round to it.

The war in the east of europe is something I've been reading and listening up on a lot recently (Dan Carlin's Tales from the Ostfront and Antony Beevor's Stalingrad)
Certainly one of the most brutal arena's of WWII that's for sure. I might just bump it up my list ;)
