The book is brilliant as you`re inside his head as his hatred and obsession with " dirty Leeds " builds.
Read the book as well, was very good, one of the interesting bits in it was about Billy Bremner, ( portrayed as a horrible, two faced little git by Stephen Graham) was on the verge of signing for Everton, but fell through the last minute. A rather interesting aside, if signed, who would have been dropped, if any ? Kendall, or Harvey ? Surely not Ball.
Showed Clough up as an insecure bully in the film, heavily reliant on the brilliant right hand man, chief scout, bottle washer Peter Taylor. Bremner and Giles were the chief perpetrators against Clough, but Clough brought a lot of it on himself. Funny watching Bremner a right snide, every time you saw him, he had a ciggy in his mouth.
Would have loved to have seen more of Revie, Gary Sprake is still not welcome at Leeds, after breaking ranks, about the dirty dealings at the time, behind the scenes at Leeds.
Alleged, bribes to opposing players by club captain Bremner, instigated by Revie. Damning evidence for me was Revie, resigning the England job and sodding off to Saudi Arabia, before any investigation could properly be taken. Sadly the film, mentioned, Liverpool, Man United but not Everton, (it was set the late sixties / seventies), but 69/70, we were the rightful, school of science champions and were not even mentioned in the film. Sorry for the essay, but enjoyed both film and book and the excellent performance of Michael Sheen.
