Last Film You Watched

Saw this the other night, you are not wrong with quirky and strange! I would say it's a good film, doesn't drag, but to have that many oscar nominations just makes me think it must have been a bad year for films.

Just had a look at them. I can see why it got most of them, when you look at the style it really stands out, and the story too. But the whole 'Oscar Nominations' thing is a bit weird I think, in terms of all the politiking and parties and release schedules, so *shrug* ...

Nb: @GrandOldTeam Where's the 'Shrug' emoji?

The Night of the Hunter. Disappointed as it's been on my watchlist forever, and it's not aged well. Some very hammy scenes and bad chase logic. Saying that, Mitchum is good and there's a beautiful impressionist sequence later in the film when the kids are journeying through the river, with a lovely PJ Harvey-esque lullaby. Worth a watch just to get to that bit.

10 - Dunkirk (2017) finally got around to watching this having missed it at the pictures. Not really sure that the reviews do it justice. Perfectly paced with the whole film slowly but surely ratcheting up the tension until the very end. Excellent work to tie the three timelines together and whilst there are one or two mis-steps from a historical viewpoint, it truly is an epic for our times.

Watched Arrival last night. Good but quite strange...

very disappointed myself. i miss proper sci-fi, this over-emoting crap grinds my gears.

tried Ender's Game...what a load of cheap wank, at least Arrival had some qualities about it.

we ended up watching a cult jap horror: Tomie. was decent with bags of trippy amosphere, tho' tricky to recommend as nothing made sense.

Yes Chris, saw it on opening day.
Good movie !!
If you like true political stories, it'll be right up your street.

There was a film from the 90’s called “The Paper” with Michael Keaton, which I think is so underrated. Although not about a true story it was about an editor taking a gamble on running a story

But I do love my political stories (13 days being another one that is underrated) so I’m really looking forward to this

Suggestion for you Chris.... Watch The Post and then All The Presidents Men straight after, brilliant double header ;)
Straight home from the cinema and slapped ATPM in the DVD ;)
