Current Affairs Labour and Anti Semitism.......

This has really wound me up.

I'm not sure if I can campaign for a party that, as a result of self-placed internal restrictions, is incapable of telling the truth anymore.

I simply cannot look at anyone in the eye and tell them that we can improve things when we're likely to fall at the first hurdle.
How did you feel about the Labour abstentions on the proposed devolved ammendments to the withdrawal bills?

The Labour Party was formed on the basis of representing the working class in Parliament. If those elected to do that job fail to do so in a manner which is acceptable to local party members, then the people should be provided the means of removing said person.

We live in a democracy, it's not some kind of cynical plot.
But that does not apply to brexit the democrocy bit - Momentum is a party within a party no middle ground voter like me not vote for Labour - Corbyn's 500 letter of an add on to the anti semitic bill was laughable rightly kicked out, and as for free speech its in the bill the NEC passed, and the fools had to add that on .........
causing the problem to go on......

Dear me, I hope this is not true...It is now rumoured that Labour have a dossier containing numerous cases of anti-semitism that should have been reported to the police, but that they didn’t...I’m sure someone has just made this up, surely.....

Pete, it isn’t true. It’s a dossier of cases that would be reported as anti Semitic incidents by the Police if they had been reported to the Police, because they have to report all incidents of AS (or racism for that matter) they are told about if someone thinks they are.

Some of them may possibly be crimes, in which case they would be investigated if the report was passed to them (by the victim or a third party).

Negative, negative and even more negative publicity hoping mud sticks amongst those waverers, often in marginals, who have had their fill of May's incompetence. Keep shouting about Corbyn's 'anti semitism' by the Blairites hoping it will damage the chances of a Corbyn led Labour party getting a majority at the next election. Your right that most people suffering the consequences of Tory austerity are sick of this right wing Labourite diatribe against Corbyn but the continued attacks are not for their 'benefit'. Muddy the waters.

The negativity/lies will continue with this Skripal false flag 'Putin friends are the suspects'. This is coming out today so as to keep the pressure on Corbyn about 'national defence' and 'nuclear weapons' and why he 'wont spend more on defence'. As well as adding 'evidence' so as to get the Counter Terrorism and Border Security Bill through parliament so they can impose a hard border on the island of Ireland. By placing a hard border due to 'state security concerns' is the only way the UK can leave the EU. But at the moment are being stymied by the Good Friday Agreement and the Northern Ireland Act 1989.

Edit. IMO this is like 1997 all over again and the question is not will the Labour party win the election but what majority will they get. That will depend on deselecting enough of those those Blairites so they don't keep poisoning the Labour party.
The wave of revulsion at the Tory sell out of Brexit will shatter them.

If the LP had a Miliband or similar drone like Starmer as leader right now, the Tories would be forced to collapse their zombie government and be replaced by them. As it is, some of Corbyn's policies are still an issue. Foreign policies like their stand on the Middle East are a major issue. But also I think there's a nervousness in the financial sector over them too. It's been noticable that McDonnell has been favouring industrial capital and manufacturing in particular in his round of contact and negotiations with big business. It's clear he has a message for them: we'll be good for business and we'll invest heavily via the national investment bank, which is his big idea. That makes finance capital a bit on the outside of things and finance capital has a lot of clout in this country, economically and politically.

I think that's where the LP right wing with their slur campaign are getting a lot of help from. But the Tories are a busted flush and close to a break up and/or collapse. So there is no alternative to Labour....if only they could just decapitate its leadership, all sides of capital would be right behind them.

You are like Corbyn and completely missing the point. All he had to do was adopt the generally agreed statement and move on. But he didn’t, he can’t help himself, he had to add something else. The man is a genius in the eyes of his supporters, and a political fool in the eyes of everyone else......

Why would he? He knows it is important to still be able to criticise the terrorist state of Israel. All kudos to him by STILL sticking to his principles and digging his heels in. It would have been very easy for him to just sign it and be done with it but he is right in seeking further recourse for highlighting the situation.

He will come out of all this on top.

The man is a legend, and even after all this effort by the tories and whoever else, he has come out on top, when this all blows over, he will be the victor.
Except the original version doesn’t say that criticism of Israel is forbidden. To add it in seems as if he doesn’t actually understand the difference/hasn’t actually read what it entails/is being his usual argumentative for the sake of argument self.

"Mr Corbyn faced the wrath of some groups for trying to add a statement saying it is not anti-Semitic to "describe Israel, its policies or the circumstances around its foundation as racist".

But also,

a "free speech" clause was added to the code to ensure it "will not in any way undermine freedom of expression on Israel or the rights of Palestinians"

So perhaps you are right but I trust his judgement here, he wanted to be certain imo.

Labour has full 500,000 members now, and it's still growing, that 500,000 does not include affiliated membership through unions if you include them it's near million people. Labour under Corbyn is far more representative party than any other of its leaders or PMs since the 1950s and certainly most representative of all the political parties. Corbyn is going nowhere from Labour leadership but is nearing the end as opposition leader.

McDonnell has had a good hearing in the City. If McDonnell goes ahead with their re-nationalisation plan he will need to money to buy up all those French and German companies shares. The City will be licking their lips at the prospect of lending Labour the money and earning good bonuses. It will be like a new big bang. The majority of City/banks lending since getting the Quanative easing money has been to lend to fuel a housing boom not only in the UK but also abroad. In the UK, in particular London and parts of the South the buy to let market has stalled and there is a major concern that this will lead to falling prices, happening already, negative equity and this will have an impact on the City of London and the banking sector as borrowers can't make the payments or sell at a loss..

Bank of England warns of a dangerous 'feedback loop' in UK economy.

Add Brexit to the mix and the City, worried enough by the loss of jobs now, will want someone in charge that puts passporting.rights for the City top of the agenda. McDonnell was early out of the traps.

John McDonnell knows what he wants from Brexit: "This is a golden ... And has curried favour with the City ever since. There is no big noises come out of the City attacking Labour's plans. What McDonnell is asking them for is 'just give us a bit to share around rather than revolutionary change'. They seem to like that message.

A Labour left government would crack down on the earnings of those at the top of the financial institutions. Never underestimate human greed. It's why these people get involved in the financial sector...it certainly isn't to make the world a better or more enlightened place.
