McDonnell has had a good hearing in the City. If McDonnell goes ahead with their re-nationalisation plan he will need to money to buy up all those French and German companies shares. The City will be licking their lips at the prospect of lending Labour the money and earning good bonuses. It will be like a new big bang. The majority of City/banks lending since getting the Quanative easing money has been to lend to fuel a housing boom not only in the UK but also abroad. In the UK, in particular London and parts of the South the buy to let market has stalled and there is a major concern that this will lead to falling prices, happening already, negative equity and this will have an impact on the City of London and the banking sector as borrowers can't make the payments or sell at a loss..

Bank of England warns of a dangerous 'feedback loop' in UK economy.

Add Brexit to the mix and the City, worried enough by the loss of jobs now, will want someone in charge that puts passporting.rights for the City top of the agenda. McDonnell was early out of the traps.

John McDonnell knows what he wants from Brexit: "This is a golden ... And has curried favour with the City ever since. There is no big noises come out of the City attacking Labour's plans. What McDonnell is asking them for is 'just give us a bit to share around rather than revolutionary change'. They seem to like that message.

TBH the reason why they have been conspiciously silent on McDonnell is that they probably recognize that McDonnell wouldn't buy the French and German companies out of infrastructure deals; what he'd do instead would be to actually build the new infrastructure (power stations especially, but also rail and water) which is something that privatized industries have never done.

That would then solve a problem in the short term (since the ones they inherited off the old utilities are increasingly decrepit), and in the long term they are probably gambling that the Tories would come to power for long enough to sell them off cheaply.

Yeah, and your comment on this thread that I quoted regarding feeling let down by the Labour Party. Answer in the EU thread by all means, if you wish to do so.

I'm going to highlight this as a prime example of what's happening here.

I have many criticisms of the Labour leadership, but I'm not willing to go around throwing extremely dangerous falsehoods about as a means of highlighting those concerns.

In a recent branch meeting I attended, someone who loves pulling hair started talking about Corbyn's comments on Zionism in a manner which implied that the leader was personally antisemitic. Once the discussion ended, and the person agreed that the comments weren't antisemitic, she finished on - "yeah, but his stance on Brexit is putting me off".

I mean, come on.

The question was as stated regarding devolved powers, nothing to do with this thread, hence I mentioned, by all means answer in the EU thread. I asked because I was interested in what you thought about the Labour stance.

Finance Institutons love Marxist McDonnell is the best thing I’ve ever read on here.

If the financial crash showed us anything, it’s how willing bankers are to put society ahead of themselves.

Is that one of the British Irony things then.......

Unfortunately, Labour hasn't commented on this warmongering by the IDF using proxies, 'terrorists' according to the US/UK, to do its work in Syria. The anti semitic attacks against Corbyn and the Labour party seems to have worked. I wonder why May is not condemning arming terrorists in Syria by the IDF? State censorship of the media and there is no outcry by the UK media.

IDF has forced the Jerusalem Post to remove its explosive report on the Israeli military giving weapons to the Syrian rebels, the newspaper’s managing editor confirmed to RT.
“We were told by the army’s military censor to remove that part of the story,” David Brinn, the managing editor of the Jerusalem Post told RT as he replied to a request for comment. The report, ‘IDF confirms: Israel provided light-weapons to Syrian rebels,’ which claimed that the Israeli military acknowledged for the first time that it had provided money, weapons and ammunition to the Syrian militants, was removed just hours after being published without any explanation.

According to Brinn, the story was removed “for security reasons evidently.” The IDF told RT that it would not comment on the issue.

It claimed that regular supplies of light weapons and ammunition to the Syrian militants holding the territories near the Israeli border were part of the Operation Good Neighbor, which Israel portrayed as a humanitarian mission, which was focused on providing Syrians with “food, clothes and fuel.”
Israel has been arming at least seven different armed groups in Syria’s Golan Heights, the report said. It also added that the Israeli military believed that providing weapons to the militants was “the right decision” as they sought to keep Hezbollah and Iran away from Israel’s Golan Heights by such means.
The deleted report comes on the heels of another major disclosure. On Monday, the IDF announced that Israel has carried out more than 200 strikes on Syrian targets in the past year and a half".

C’mon that’s getting into tinfoil hat territory - you think that this whole thing has been setup to act as a smokescreen to cover state actors getting involved in the Syrian civil war? States censor stories about military action all the time.
