Telegraph.....

“The frontrunner to succeed Heidi Alexander as a Labour MP has withdrawn from the contest after it emerged that she equated the treatment of Palestinians to “Nazi persecution” on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, a far-Left supporter of Jeremy Corbyn, claimed that the Israel-Palestine conflict should be considered alongside the systematic extermination of more than six million Jews during the Holocaust.”

Pretty well sums Corbyn’s labour up......

As usual your 'evidence' is not quite there. Can you show me where in this remark she 'equates the treatment of Palestinians to "Nazi persecution"?

“Today is the day when we remember all those affected by the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur – I’m adding Palestinian to the list”.

What 'sums Corbyn's labour up' is the twisted lies and demonisation of a person who is not 'on message' with his anti neo-conservative agenda, and who is right in the centre of neo-conservatism, the Barclay brothers. It is not surprising that they will have reams and reams of anti Corbyn articles.

‘I’m adding Palestinian to the list’ is the give away there.

There’s a worrying undercurrent for me with BME figures that seem to think racism on their behalf is fully acceptable. I’ve seen articles where white is used a pejorative term and no one has batted an eye lid. Sure you can guess where that particular piece of works alleged political flag flew...

You can draw parallels with Nazi Germany and Israel. Both were driven by a desire to create a ethonationalisticly pure state through the sheer disregard for the wellbeing of your fellow man.

Human rights violations are human rights violations in any context.

Being against the policies of Israel doesn't make you an Anti Semite

Just as being against the policies of the UK doesn't make you Anti Christian

This is the problem I have with it all. Right now there's a bit of a media swing-fest because many within Labour (including myself) don't believe that adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of anti-Semitism.

In the definitions press release, (among other entirely valid examples) it gives the following as being anti-Semitic acts:
  • Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
  • Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
  • Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
I think it's important to understand the problem at hand here, and that it's far more nuanced than the media and many within Labour like to make it out to be. I am wholly against racism, in all forms - which includes the oppression of Palestinians at the hands of the Israelis.

And which bit of 'Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and subsequent genocides' is she referring to when she says, 'I’m adding Palestinian to the list'? Is it the 'holocaust'? Or is it 'Nazi persecution'? Or is it 'subsequent genocides'? Hardly, 'a give away there' is it? Twisting 'evidence' to suit a political agenda is the 'give away there' with the Telegraph article. There is not much more they can throw at Corbyn, but they will undoubtedly try because he does not follow the neo conservative agenda. They will keep coming for him by 'fair' or more likely foul methods. I wonder how the 'Corbyn is a spy' doing in the anti Corbyn brigade circles these days?

Oh dear, 'a worrying undercurrent' with 'BME figures'. Nazi Germany had 'a worrying undercurrent' with trade union figures, communist and socialist party figures, Jewish figures, some Christian figures, gay figures, those with disabilities and locked them up in concentration camps. And we know which flag the Nazi's flew.

Well exactly. Sixteen Palestinians dead so far today in Gaza, protesting against the US Embassy move.

at least 25 dead now, Palestinian lives are cheap in the eyes of the israeli govt.

from Haaretz' live coverage:

2:31 P.M. Gaza Health Ministry: 918 wounded, 448 from live gunfire

918 have been wounded so far in protest along the border, with 448 being from live gunfire, the Gaza Health Ministry reported.

584 Palestinians were evacuated to Gazan hospitals, the rest were treated in local clinics. 11 of the wounded are in critical condition, 39 are seriously wounded and 411 are in moderately wounded.

According to the report, 320 were wounded from tear gas inhalation, 64 from shrapnel and 83 from blunt force trauma. 3 were wounded from rubber-tipped bullets. 118 of the wounds are to the upper body. (Jack Khoury)

For me the deaths of Palestinians at the hands of the Israeli state lies at the heart of 'Labour and anti semitism'. The Labour front bench and others in the Labour party are now 'too scared' to raise the cold blooded murder of Palestinians by the IDF. And for that they deserve criticism, they should not allow themselves to be browbeaten into silence. This Tory government has no such scruples when it is violence by those they support, for them silence is golden. Where is the outcry over the illegal Israeli bombing of Syria that has been upped more and more. The silence by this government over the Saudi onslaught against men, women and children in Yemen is not surprising.

I see you’ve taken two separate points to make a new conspiracy. Congratulations.

The problem is the examples she had were prime examples of actual one sided genocides. To chuck the Israeli/Palestine in there seems slightly tone deaf.

I see your taking what I said with regards to BMEs creeping racism out of context. Well done.

I disagree - this is so bad that it doesn't need condemning; if you pop up and say "the Israelis did this..." then it just allows the people responsible for it to make the usual claim and then the story is about that rather than this.

Bibi's actions should be met with silence; he will probably end up talking himself into a prison sentence.

38 dead now according to the Gaza Health Ministry (admittedly under Hamas control, but it seems to accord with what journalists are seeing on the ground). 772 with wounds from live fire, 86 in critical or serious condition. 1703 injured overall.

This is rapidly spiralling into a very dark place indeed.

I am shocked and horrified by what is going on today in Jerusalem today.

41 dead at least. Shooting into a crowd? What the ... ? I took my eyes away from this region for far too long. How the hell did this happen?

Absolutely awful. I simply can't process this as it's so terrible. It's monstrous.
