Koeman Not Confident On Barkley

No I think the club should have remained silent and explained why he'd left when we sold him on our terms, instead of knocking millions off his value by exposing our weakness on the situation AND unsettling one of our own players over a period of months for no reason whatsoever.

Not "apparently" - he is. This is the issue with what Koeman has done - he's villified the player totally, so we get comments like this.

Oh, and he hasn't rejected a contract. He hasn't said yes or no. All he's rejected at this point is Koeman's ego and his ridiculous public deadline.

Again, you don't know that, nobody does but Barkley and his agent. Again, Koeman's narrative has put the "Judas" narrative into peoples' heads with no evidence.

I'm not going to be angry at a player for staying quiet, doing his job and being professional. I'm not even bothered really if he goes - it's business, football is a business, assets are acquired and offloaded. I'm "miffed" at the club being unprofessional, that's it.

Exactly.

What do people want? Him doing an interview on the tele like Raheem Sterling did?

The club from a PR standpoint cant remain silent on it. Imagine if nothing was said, no news was leaked, nobody had heard anything about Barkley going and not signing a new contract, and then the window opens, and Barkley is sold. The club would say "Barkley didnt want to sign a new contract, we tried and tried", and the fume would be immense as the club would be called liars, as it would be the first people had heard of it. They would say it was a convenient excuse when Koeman didnt really want him, and it would make the club look really bad.

Like it or not, the only way for the club to save face in this case is to make it public beforehand. Its nice to live in a world of fantasy, but in the real world they would be skewered if they were to just up and announce he was sold one day. Further, what kind of club do you want to support, a club thats just super nice in business and never wins anything, or a club who will fight tooth and nail to try and force one of their players to stay?

He has done, on numerous occasions.

Don't be an idiot and use this one interview over the 15 you've bitched about as an another excuse to have a pop. It's becoming extremely tedious

It's quite simple, Barkley for his own reasons doesn't want to sign and will be sold if he follows through.

I'm not surprised we're selling if he's soiled his crackers at USMFF

I am completely with Koeman on this one ,if the club feel they have offered him what they consider a fair contract and the player is unwilling to sign it then we have to move on.
I rather he stayed but for me he is still just unfulfilled potential who flatters to deceive,he looks to me like a player who believes his own hype.If we can get 25 to 30 million take it and replace him with someone who wants to be here.

So Barkley in that instance has decided to call Everton's bluff. It's totally in his rights to do that - if he believes he's worth more than the club values him at, then the club now has a disposable asset. Sell him.

But here's the kicker for me - do it in private, be professional. It's not difficult. Or at the very least await a bid before demonising the player in public.
If anyone thinks any sales will all go on players and not towards the new ground etc they are deluded !

The irony of all this? People constantly bash Barkley as being "thick", yet here he is - in my view - holding his horses on his contract until he sees how much we smash the wage structure this summer so he can get the best possible deal - and people have a go at him for potentially being very smart.
In what world is Barkley the best player at the club? Or even second best? Lukaku would smash the wage structure. Barkley is NOWHERE near that level. He's an above average PL player. He's not set the world alight, he's not smashing in goals left/right, he's is tied for 7th in the league in assists. In this world we live in he's supposedly got an offer of 100k/week. Let's be honest, it's more than he really should be paid. Not having this 'he should get paid more than people coming in' who might be significantly better than him.

Macmanaman scenario here I think. He'll sit tight for 12 months and leave on a free.
Thats the danger mate. Disappointing from a local lad and massive Blue. Whether you like Koemans honesty or blame him for this situation (personally I like his honesty), I' m disappointed Ross doesn't appear to want to sign the contract offered. Would like him to stay but resigned to him leaving now.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if his personal issues are a sticking point here. He's been threatened before and there may be another cloud hanging over him with Liverpool's underworld.

Crossed my mind that he's being "advised" to move on by somebody other than his professional advisors. Somebody who has the ability to force personal to be made against all sensibility. Strange that we haven't heard a single thing from his agent either confirming or denying his position regarding the contract. When was the last time an agent stayed pip-squeak silent and out of the media during a high profile contract 'negotiation? Maybe more to it than meets the eye.
Also might make more sense of this strange claim that he's off to West Ham.

Is it true that David Moyes' son is Ross Barkley's agent? There's some stuff online about it, but maybe he just works for the company Ross Barkley uses. Having googled, Ross Barkley's rep seems to be a Paul Martin.

I agree mate.

I think the club shouldn't be airing its dirty laundry in public like they have with Barkley and Lukaku.

Just focus on convincing them to sign contracts behind closed doors instead of vilifying them in public and getting the fans riled up.

All this "putting pressure on them & their agents" is mince. Like he can't chat to Barkley's agent on the phone or call him in to his office after training.

He is though. Him and Rom.

You think we'd have had a decent season without them???
