KIRKBY MOVE REJECTED

Never commented much on this subject, but on a personal note, I'm glad Kirkby has been rejected. Not that it is anything to cheer about, as it leaves us stranded as a club. Always had my doubts about the project, as I consider myself a traditionalist when it comes to my football club(s).

I know I'm not a Liverpudlian, a scouser or even a season ticket holder, but I firmly believe that Everton belong in Liverpool (that's within the city boundaries). This isn't meant as an insult to anyone or anything from Kirkby, but the heart and soul of a club are more important than any possible success to me. Stadium and City of origin are the backbones to that believe for me.

Personally hate take-overs by those mega rich foreign investors and I'd also hate ever having to leave Goodison Park. Would be a dream come true for me, if we somehow managed to redevelop the Old Lady and we could give the finger to any possible move. Doubt that will ever happen and so I'm prepared to look at the bigger picture. Just hope that when we eventually move, it will be within the Liverpool boundaries.

BBC - BBC Sport: Phil McNulty: Where now for Everton?

Good article that. But spotted this:

KEIOC insisted on Wednesday night: "This was never a boundary issue, it was a location issue. This stadium would have been nine miles outside the city centre, further from a city centre than any other Premier League ground."

Wait a moment, why are you called Keep Everton in our City if its not a boundary issue then?

As bizarre as that stupid ass plane that Mr T was flying.

Too many posts for me to read all of them. The fact is the rejection of the plan had really nothing to do with KEIOC but that the powers that be were unwilling to allow this retail project to proceed in the form presented. It has also been made clear no revised plan will be entertained either because of the apparent detrimental effect on th local communities. Nothing to do with KEIOC at all. One thing I will say about KEIOC is that they had no viable plan to replace Kirkby, and please do not come back with the loop, or the Maghull roundabout or redevelop GP without saying where the finance is coming from.

The rejection now presents enormous problems to Everton. The club is over 36 mill in debt, without support financially it has no means of buying land to build a stadium or to do up GP. To redevelop GP would mean in real terms having to rebuild each side of the ground step by step with possibly the exception of the Park Road End. But where does the money come from? And how do you think the club will be able to continue to support Moyes with ttransfers?

I wonder how many have truly grasped what this rejection means or could mean. To be blunt it could see Everton going into terminal decline and then the RS would be the only club in the City. I suppose many will say come omn that won't happen but can you honestly believe that. With out a huge injection of cash the club is scuppered. I cannot believe that there is any sort of buyout like that on the horizon notwithstanding some comments made on other threads. At the moment we are just holding our heads above water.

What I have seen mentioned which I have to admit is news to me is that there is space at Gillmoss and Speke. Does anyone have any info on this at all.

With respect Rob, all of that is based on ceteris paribus - if everything remains the same. Can you really see Everton's situation staying the same with this bombshell? I cant. The current board are free to sell their shares anytime now, that hasn't been the case for 2-3 years whilst they were looking to fill their boots with the get rich quick scheme. The board are rudderless and visionless. They're plans are in tatters and they have no credibity. Something will give.

You hope, what if we end up imploding a bit now?
