I genuinely don’t see how it does in context of the interaction with the royal aide.

It will have framed her approach and reaction and how should would percieve things. I am not suggesting she was fishing but she is certainly milking it IMO.

It seems she has previously stated issues with the royal family, if so it might be reasonable to consider why she was going to a social with them.
