I think just on midfield i'd say
LW: George
LCM: KDH
RCM: Garner
RW: Ndiaye
That leaves one more position. When we want:
Tackle machine = Iroegbunam
Allround quality = Armstrong
Attacking nous = Dibling
Pressing = Rohl
I would say I think George & Ndiaye should be swapping sides frequently as well becaus for me both are best on the left.
Tbh im mystified / bewildered / amazed / gobsmacked that anyone watching KDH as a 10 thinks he's effective.
The pressing is not close to Doucoure or even Rohl. For me, the ONLY thing he does at 10 is make the forward runs for Grealish who has already stood on the ball.
Its both a waste of a player with KDHs talent & a waste of an opportunity for us.
As an 8 he's been fantastic. Hard to fault him at all when used alongside Garner. One of the leagues best midfielders and together a really fantastic pairing.
Thats my issue and its not KDHs fault.
Totally agree on KDH
The issue is during the back end of the 90's a no10 position really hit in and brought an exciting new spark to the game, as that moved on into the 21st century young kids all wanted to be that player, the longer that position progressed on, teams started looking at a sole no9 position.
Being a striker lost that no1 appeal to the younger generation, which is why today it's become so hard to find quality strikers to go around.
Strikers that would never really fit in to the professional game ( top tier ), have somehow fitted in, basically because of need..
Tactics are now gradually changing again, Cm's need to be alround players again and the No10 can hinder that if they don't also carry the other aspects..
The No6 is the new No10
Players are defined by numbers now.
The centre of the pitch is the heart of the team, really you just need 3 quality alround CM's that compliment eachother's game.
Garner + KDH both already do that, Armstrong carries those traits and looks to be the perfect fit..
When you have missing parts in your team, that centre gets ripped apart cleaning up for others.
