2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

If its me i'd just have a main 3 of:
KDH
Garner
Armstrong

Then i'd have Iroegbunam as an option to bring on when we need a tackle machine.

I'd move on Rohl (injury prone) and Gana (age).

In the 10 we have Alcaraz and Dibling as the options. If needed Alcaraz can also drop back to make a 6th centre mid and Dibling can move wide if needed.

Id not do anything else in midfield this summer...

Central: KDH, Garner, Armstrong, Iroegbunam
Advanced central: Dibling, Alcaraz
It's a confusing world...

Just to add to this, if we were able to rebuild the midfield next summer then at this time i'd go with:

KDH - Sell if we can get our money back

Rohl - Sell if we can get our money back
Iroegbunam - Squad player or sell
Gana - thanks for the memories
Garner - KEEP
Alcaraz - KEEP

Garner & Alcaraz the only 2 I particularly rate. I think Moyes really needs to overhaul the midfield.

He literally stated he would only sign "robust" players at the start of the summer...what is Rohl?

So far looking every bit the typical Moyes signing and a huge success:
  1. Made a bad previous move and was set to rot on the bench despite his huge potential which got him the move in the first place.
  2. Wasn't content to be a backup player getting just a handful of games each season.
  3. Was willing to take a step down to become a bigger fish in a smaller pond.
  4. Is thriving with not responsibility and in a role he can flourish in.
  5. Has exactly the personality and character that was prevalent in Moyes' first tenure
Hope he can continue to develop and become even more important for us. Surely we sign a team striker in the summer which he ought to be able to link up better with as well.

You’re spot on with that main three - it’s an exciting trio who can do a bit of everything between them. My one worry would be that if Garner got injured we’d struggle to replace him amongst our current squad.

Not sure about Rohl yet. We seem to have taken a bit of a risk given his fitness record, but I do like him and the deal means I’m sure he’ll be here next season, so I think we just have to cross our fingers and trust our medical team - not an easy thing to do!

Most potential in a 3 man KDH midfield (current squad) imo is
KDH-Garner-Tim (868) or
KDH-Garner-Illy (8610)

When has Ndiaye ever looked good as a 10? Sheff Utd only?

He has scored more PL goals this season (5 in 18 PL games) than his PL goal total in the previous 4 years (3 in 72 PL Games).

What a signing this lad was. He has found his true home and is playing the best football of his career.

COYB's

I hate to prattle on but again, he certainly wasnt "playing the best football of his career" in the first 45-70mins last week and then was electric after moving deeper.

At 8 he looks exceptional. At 10 he looks crap.

Well further context may help here Zat.
He's the best player in the side with ball at feet, undoubtedly so. If you bring him in the middle what happens - with the sqUad available. He's better on the wings within the overall play.
Maybe George will work as a duo between the 10 and W.

Getting back to the original thought
with KDH-Garner- Illy and George who plays around them?

[potential]

I think just on midfield i'd say

LW: George
LCM: KDH
RCM: Garner
RW: Ndiaye

That leaves one more position. When we want:

Tackle machine = Iroegbunam
Allround quality = Armstrong
Attacking nous = Dibling
Pressing = Rohl

I would say I think George & Ndiaye should be swapping sides frequently as well becaus for me both are best on the left.

I don't even know how this thread can have such debates on the player.

Tbh im mystified / bewildered / amazed / gobsmacked that anyone watching KDH as a 10 thinks he's effective.

The pressing is not close to Doucoure or even Rohl. For me, the ONLY thing he does at 10 is make the forward runs for Grealish who has already stood on the ball.

Its both a waste of a player with KDHs talent & a waste of an opportunity for us.

As an 8 he's been fantastic. Hard to fault him at all when used alongside Garner. One of the leagues best midfielders and together a really fantastic pairing.

Thats my issue and its not KDHs fault.

Totally agree on KDH

The issue is during the back end of the 90's a no10 position really hit in and brought an exciting new spark to the game, as that moved on into the 21st century young kids all wanted to be that player, the longer that position progressed on, teams started looking at a sole no9 position.

Being a striker lost that no1 appeal to the younger generation, which is why today it's become so hard to find quality strikers to go around.
Strikers that would never really fit in to the professional game ( top tier ), have somehow fitted in, basically because of need..

Tactics are now gradually changing again, Cm's need to be alround players again and the No10 can hinder that if they don't also carry the other aspects..

The No6 is the new No10

Players are defined by numbers now.
The centre of the pitch is the heart of the team, really you just need 3 quality alround CM's that compliment eachother's game.

Garner + KDH both already do that, Armstrong carries those traits and looks to be the perfect fit..

When you have missing parts in your team, that centre gets ripped apart cleaning up for others.
