On the subject of this deal, taking everything into account, it seems like we are in the box seat. If Arsenal wanted him, they could have gone and got him by now. Yes, you could say that for us, too, but the fact that it's taking so long suggests drawn out negots between ourselves and Olympiakos. If Arsenal were seriously sniffing I'd expect we'd have hurried things along more and wouldn't be haggling. I know there's no serious confirmation of talks yet but no one knew about Rodwell for 2 weeks until it was done. I reckon the talks are going on but how advanced they are is anyone's guess.
It looks to me like the agent and Mirallas have been mentioning Arsenal because the agent would like his man earning more at a CL club. Watching the interview video, Mirallas had Arsenal suggested to him rather than him dropping Arsenal's name. He said he wanted first team football and thinks Everton, as a result, is the place to be. It seems clear where he stands. It was a genuine interest from Arsenal that seems to have cooled but the agent is trying to re-ignite it. Fair play, like.
The above is mostly (mildly) educated guesswork but it's why I'm still pretty optimistic in this case. But yeah, football transfers are often impossible to predict correctly so there's a good chance I'm chatting balls. Ah well, hopefully
DAVID MOYES will pop in and shed some light again soon.
