I agree, just because the RS are the more famous team doesn't mean we cannot find an investor. We're still part of one of the most vibrant cities in the UK, we have brilliant history and great fan base. Any foreign investor would see all these as great aspects of the club and something which can be built upon and, importantly, marketed abroad. I think it is getting too much for Bill and the bullshit he comes out with is a coping mechanism he uses.
I would have thought that us being a lot cheaper option than Liverpool would leave investors more capital to remedy the clear faults,Not trying to bash Bill but the selling of our assets will not have helped us attract a buyer I can understand that cash was needed and possibly this was his only option but it was and is always a short term option as you can only sell them once.My main worry is some one looking for a quick profit takes us on which was DICs aim across the park to sell at a profit in five years or so my red mated tell me.the future for us dose not look bright unless Bill is close to selling and putting a dramatic spin on it.I have said for a few years the main problem is Bill cannot afford a top club.this is no slight on him but if Moores could not afford it how can any one expect Bill too.

From reading his answer, what an absolute atrocious chairman he seems to be.

Just to provide a little clarity to this discussion. The role of a chairman:

The duties of the chairman are to preside over the assembly and to conduct its business in an orderly fashion.[2] When the assembly is not in session, the chairman often acts informally as its head, its representative to the outside world, its spokesperson, etc.

The role of the CEO/MD:

The role of a Managing Director (MD) is to design, develop and implement the strategic plan for their company in the most cost effective and time efficient manner.

The role of the MD is correct, but i'm pretty sure even he has to run things by a chairman or owner ( Kenwright ), before he gets the approval.

Bill is a major shareholder and should, therefore, be more than a tad interested in the financial affairs of the club. But you're right that Bully is the man to ask the deeper questions. But Bill could still have done better than he did.

I don't think...........

I my humble opinion in the current economic climate any major investors will be tightening their purse strings. This is a global financial crisis and the last place to put your money would be a football club. Any club, not just us. All spare money for investment goes into precious metals and other more secure things. At the height of the economic boom football investors were still nominal in amounts.

Seriously, what a compleate load of codswallop, whats broke nothing! If we were Newcastle or something we would have a right to complain our chairman is doing a fantastic job!

Is the role of the chairman to also say 'I'm just a shareholder like you, I know as much as you'. Dont think so...wouldn't give much comfort to small shareholders that their chairman hasn't got a clue about the strategy of the organisation. And that's exactly what he's apparently said to ESCLA members.

City, forever in United's shadow, didn't have a problem getting a buyer. Birmingham have Chung looking to buy them out when Villa are the premier team in Brum.

Doesn't stack up. We are in a city in transformation. Liverpool (the city)
fooball culture is a very special phenomena...who wouldn't want to buy into that?

The fact that 'Manchester City..and Birmingham have the cities name in their title doesnt mean anything to you??

The very fact that you have to put brackets after the use of the word Liverpool means a hell of alot the brand concious money men.

I think Bill is now in over his head and is not sure what to do,he is getting into a untenable position which is not good for the club

Or BK could think "this is a journalist trying to find some kind of pointless scoop, so I will release no information outside of normal Cliches". use your brains folks.

Stop pissing in the wind.

(The BK is a media superstar. Is he really going to release anything he does not want to?)

i am a kenwright supporter, but surely as our chairman he should consider everton as the premier team in the city. i know most of us here do.

we are right on their coat tails anyway. with a bit of investment (bill) we will over take them for 4th.
Maybe for once BK was talking sense about not being the biggest club in the city,i do cringe when he goes off on one but in this case i'm grateful he's seen sense about things.

Oh and before any suggestions im a RS,i've been an evertionian since 1977 :)

I can't really take anything that has been written by someone from toffeeweb as fact. Bill probably was there and probably was evasive, but I bet his answers weren't as bad as are being made out.

Sorry mate but a share holder at he meeting confirmed it(y)

Interesting read.

Re: LiverpoolOne.

Its obvious to me that the above is changing the retail map of Liverpool.

Why o why we don't have a shop/store/megastore setup and ready to run I will never know? Fact is the club name and badge will be alongside many other prestigous highstreet names and in order to get the wonderer-££££ i.e. visitors to the city the unintitated in football and quite possibly a larger female clientale ... and developing the "Everton Brand" - having a presence in LiverpoolOne is critical for us.

The above is only exacerbated by the poor representation in so-called "Kit Partner" - JJB sports.

The to numerous to mention occasions people have written into GOT/Kipper/The People's Club (Facebook) etc saying "can't get the kit" "cant get x" "can't get y", is shocking.

Even more so seeing all the "Top 3 + RS" monopoly shirts on huge displays and stands in the middle.

I just raise this point to.

My father was in JJB in Chester (there's a large % of blues there and in northwales) - yesterday and asked why there was no gear for Everton considering they were the "Kit Partner". I couldn't make head nor tail of what was said to him.

i.e. The usual no satisfactory answer.

All I do know is - if the club is not aggressively merchandised. If the club doesn't have a high street presence - especially in the heart lands of the club outside the city of Liverpool and within in....

Then that is a fundamental strategic mistake.

Fact is given its upcoming/highprofile and prestige:
LiverpoolOne should have a "Flagship" Everton FC store.
Birkenhead and others should be satellite supporting/convience stores of a smaller scale.

Backed up with a decent Web-based store... all with a good and varied range of merchandise.

We've got a high profile now. We want a higher one and maintaining the levels of support in the North West (particuarly) core.

I'm not basing these arguments on nothing. I'm basing them on a subject called "Behavioural Economics". The sort of arguments that say the value of the club is particuarly through associating with the clubs name. (like in F1 Vodaphone Mclaren Mercedes - Vodaphone team sponsor know the value of association, I'm not saying change the team name !!! btw).

Its all about ASSOCIATION of the club with position/atmosphere etc.
Through association - people/fans will pay there money in order to be associated with "the brand". In a smart large shopping development - people will associate Everton FC with smartness, prestige etc. (i.e. it rubs off on our image and ours on LiverpoolOne).

The reverse is true to develop the club name - through associating it with other big prestigous high street names to develop our sales further i.e. within a large shopping development like LiverpoolOne. You can't say that place is not unprecendented in Liverpool either? (@ £800million investment).

Just some points to consider.

Its one reason why I'm pressuring the club to get a store in L1 ASAP.

And one reason why I had to convince my father not to write to Kenwright/Wyness as to the very very very poor showing in JJB stores that he termed "A DISGRACE". I might let him write it.... the old man's good with management speak and am sure reading it if it arrived on their desks - they'd take note surely? Its a money making opportunity being missed!!!!

Thanks for reading my little ramble
