As a European AC Milan are a bigger club then Everton yes, but in the Far East I would bet against it. The Premier League is the be all and end all of football out there and I would guess alot more people know who Everton are then AC Milan. Hopefully that will influence his decision.

You´re joking right?

AC Milan are an absolute massive international brand on par with Man Utd and Barcelona. We´re lightyears behind. Don´t you think people in the far east watch the Champions league? Absolute tit of a comment that, on par with the best of them on RAWK.

Absolutely right mate, have some +rep for that comment. There is positivity, but that is far too far.

Mad this place, come on for a discussion and get abused by blag hardcases. If you dont agree with me lad then know problem but dont start abusing because your behind a computer.

People need to start being more postive . If reports are true the club are showing some ambition and your sulking . Yes Milan are a huge club with champions league and normally most players would choose them like naing who was young but this guy is at his peak . He can either go to Milan and play in the champions league that he's already done at cska or come to the premier league which everyone bigs up . If it's true just us and milan are in for him then it really up to him which route he would like to take . Not that impossible is it

I understand what you are saying but I dont think it can be under estimated the popularity of the Premier League over in the Far East could sway the lads decision.

That, and the fact that we could conceivably out bid Milan when it comes to wages. He is a good player and a star name, and if Neville was on 50k and Heitinga is on 65k, then what should we be offering the likes of Honda? Especially when both of those players are likely to be off the wage bill soon.

The mere fact that we're seriously having a go for this lad, would be good news if true, as it'd show the managers ambition.

Given the choice between us & Milan? Behave lads, if that's the choice & there's not massive financial disparity between the 2 offers, then we won't be seeing him a Goodison, but if we went in strong & made a real play for him, then you never know I suppose. I'm certainly not going to get excited but IF we managed to pull this off, it'd be our biggest transfer coup since the flying Russian imo.

It's actually not that crazy of a comment mate. You are looking at things from UK/Euro football fan perspective (and from that perspective you are correct: AC Milan have a bigger brand than we do).

I can't speak to Japan but in N. America the average "casual soccer fan" is more likely to have heard of a top 7 Prem team than any Serie A team. Unless they make the CL semi's/final the CL part doesn't factor into it. Some select Prem games get national broadcast TV in the US; I don't even know what channel Serie A games are on.

If you look at mainstream US media sites/channels they will cover the Prem (lightly) but they wouldn't even mention Serie A.

We're talking about a group of people who will ask me questions like "what's the Europa league?" But they buy shirts and "support" a team. It's a group of fans who would see no difference between Man City and Barca (they are both rich clubs that win things) and most of them mainly follow the Prem and some CL. There are some hardcore fans (who are basically just like us) but the majority are at least as likely to have heard of us (Landon, Howard, being in the Prem) as AC Milan.

Doesn't mean it's true ... just perception of a subset of fans.

I don't think it's as simple as choosing between us and Milan. Footballers have big egos and like clubs to feed those egos, so everything depends on how they approach him. If they want him to be the main playmaker in their team then we have no chance. If they see him as a squad player and will expect him to spend time on the bench then he would probably choose us as he knows he would be the star in our team. If they try to get him on the cheap or wait until his contract expires then he might feel under-valued by them.

The idea of signing a Japanese player will make us gain millions of supporters in far east is silly, first outside Japan no one will give a damn about it, on the contrary, south Koreans and Chinese consider Japanese their rivals, as for inside Japan, football fans are already divided, a Japanese Liverpool supporter will not switch to a blue because we signed Honda.

The press there will be covering us a lot because of Honda, football fans will keep a close eye on him too, but unlike USA (Landon’s case) football is not something new there, they already have a team they support.

Oh and i want us to sign him, not because he is a Japanese, but because he is a very good player

Haha hey now ... I became a fan at a time when we had no American players (2004).

Something no one else mentioned is that the AC Milan supremo when referencing the possible transfer of Tevez said that they will not be buying any attacking players without selling one of the ones they have now. So if Robinho, Prince-Boateng, el Shaarawy, Balotelli, ... etc. go then they will move for him.

Whether or not we got him, it's nice to be competing for players like Honda as it shows that Martinez has his own ideas. I can actually see us getting 5 or 6 new players in this summer as we need more numbers. I'm not saying they will all be £6 million pound signings, but 2 or 3 first choice players and 3 squad members

The Everton more well known the AC MIlan comments does seem a bit ridiculous but being honest, I reckon I know loads about football but I couldn't tell you a thing about South American football. I haven't got a clue who wins there Champions Lge equivalent, I don't even know what it's called or who's the bigger clubs out of the likes of Corinthians, Boca Juniors, Sau Paulo etc, NO IDEA???
