Some (not always reliable) Italian websites suggesting the Milan CEO has met Honda's agent, Milan are prepared to sign him now instead of waiting until Jan.

well I could see ac milan also offering him 50k a week.
Everton or AC Milan, not hard to pick... of course people here would say Everton but thats because they support everton but from a neutral perspective, if someone says everton or milan... you probably would go to AC unless you 100% wanna play in the prem

As a European AC Milan are a bigger club then Everton yes, but in the Far East I would bet against it. The Premier League is the be all and end all of football out there and I would guess alot more people know who Everton are then AC Milan. Hopefully that will influence his decision.

Not when Nakata and Nakamura played there, it wasn't. Bit like all the Celtic games and bundesliga gamesin Korea in recent seasons, wasn't just PL focused at all.

Common sense - if he has the choice between Milan and here, sadly, he is going to pick Milan.

The idea of signing a Japanese player will make us gain millions of supporters in far east is silly, first outside Japan no one will give a damn about it, on the contrary, south Koreans and Chinese consider Japanese their rivals, as for inside Japan, football fans are already divided, a Japanese Liverpool supporter will not switch to a blue because we signed Honda.

The press there will be covering us a lot because of Honda, football fans will keep a close eye on him too, but unlike USA (Landon’s case) football is not something new there, they already have a team they support.

Oh and i want us to sign him, not because he is a Japanese, but because he is a very good player

All absolutely correct - common sense too, which seems to desert people during this transfer window.

Chaps, we are shopping for the likes of Kone and mcgeady - Honda is out of our league sadly.

Not a chance, unfortunately.

It won't bring millions of fans as you say. But asian fans are typically a little bit different as they tend to follow players as much as teams.

He's high profile which means that we'd get more coverage in that area which increases the visibility of our sponsors and makes the club worth more as a partner.

It also makes us more likely to compete for new fans in the area if we're watched regularly and he does well for us.

I don't think we should buy Honda for his potential marketability, he and Japan looked very exciting in the Confederations cup. Would be a great signing but if we are going head to head with Milan it will be very difficult.

I understand what you are saying but I dont think it can be under estimated the popularity of the Premier League over in the Far East could sway the lads decision.

That would definately be the case, it is nothing like Europe were supporting a team is like a religion. You only have to look at how thousands of fans switched allegiances to whoever Beckham was playing for.
