I haven't read this page yet - what, are we trashing him now?

Is there a secret agenda I dont konw anything about , to drive out every talented young (mostly English) players with any potential, and send them to Man U or Chelsea?

Thanks

He let in 50+ for Sunderland last season. And your point is?
Its hard to say that hes at fault if there haven't been any obviously glaring errors on his part. But you don't know if he could maybe have saved some of them yesterday. Certainly I don't recall him making many saves and he still conceded 4?

That's confused me more than ever, he didn't make any mistakes but he we don't know if he could have saved some yesterday, he didnt make many saves but still conceded 4. Your point is? I'm not getting it, are you being critical or not? If you are, just because of the goals conceded column, then you wouldn't have been happy we bought him to begin with?

The point is a simple 1, you don't have to make an obvious mistake to be accountable for a poor result. For instance, Sigurdsson, Gueye, Baines, etc, didn't make any glaringly obvious mistakes, where as Rooney, who misplaced 2 or 3 passes gets far more criticism for what was generally a far more composed and positive, effective performance.

Joel last season went on that run of games with cleansheets, but took non of the credit because "any goalkeeper could've kept those cleansheets", despite the fact that our other goalkeeper failed to do so with the same players either side of Joel's run in the team.

In other words, maybe it's the smaller things that go unnoticed that have the bigger impact in these situations. There's no doubt that Pickford makes eye catching saves, but the defence looks terrible, and the goalkeeper is part of the defensive unit.
