I couldn't vote, as I think he is worth less than £15M. I don't believe he will ever be as good as Gary Cahill or John Terry, he will never score goals at the rate of Terry, he cannot distribute the ball as good as them, he will certainly never be as brave as either of them. How that simpleton
Roy Hodgson picks him and Jagielka for that matter is beyond me. This 'stand-off' by Martinez has saved this lads career, do you honestly think that the Chelsea fans would put up with his schoolboy errors, like we do, don't think so!
Master Stones has told us straight, what matters to him most, I think it's known in Yorkshire as BRASS.

Wow just wow

Can't even find the words

Can't believe all the abuse Stones got last night. Really a way to get him to want to stay. Or try his best on the the pitch. Not like he hasn't been doing his best on the pitch.

Very little abuse that I could hear mate. A couple of boos at first but the vast majority of fans drowned it out with over-the-top applause for his every touch for quite a while. If he had broken wind at that point, he would have received a rapturous round of applause. They all got booed at half-time (and rightly so), but it was all good at the end when all the players including John got a great ovation.

Chelsea will make another attempt to sign John Stones in January despite the arrival of Papy Djilobodji from Nantes. The club agreed a £2.7m fee for Djilobodji yesterday, but he is merely seen as a cheap back-up option after missing out on Stones this summer.Chelsea stepped up their search for other options after Everton turned down a £38m offer last week.

But the Blues remain convinced that they will be able to secure a transfer in the future, especially as the 21-year-old asked to leave for Stamford Bridge. Stones is seen as the long-term replacement for captain John Terry and Chelsea will not give up the hunt.

Don't think we'll ever sell him to Chelsea out of principle now.

If they offered Rio Ferdinand type money as their first bid i think Stones would be a Chelsea player by now.

They fact they started low and leaked bids to the public and essentially piled the pressure on the lad clearly angered Everton and as it went on i think kt was more a refusal to sell to Chelsea point blank.

The mods are going to be all over you because of this strange post.

Paul Merson's words of wisdom (!). He gave our transfer dealings a C grade (bear in mind he gave Arsenal a 'B' and they only signed one player):

MERSE SAYS: They held onto John Stones, but there was a lot of money on the table and I think they should have taken the money. They haven't really bought anybody of note. It's a big ask for the lad from River Plate, Gerard Deulofeu has been there before and Tom Cleverley was just a free. It's a C for me because I think they should have taken the money for Stones. What's the difference between him being there and not being there? Two positions?

That just about sums up the hypocrisy/stupidity of these pundits. Stones is 'only the difference between one or two positions', yet by the same token, he's apparently the future of Chelsea and a future England captain. So basically he's rubbish because he stayed with us, and would be great if he went to Chelsea.

Yes, they never seem to notice that contradiction do they - if he is only worth 1 or two places why are Chelsea willing to spend more than they did on Costa//0Hazard to buy him?

They also rarely point out that a) each of those "1 or 2" places is worth several million pounds in their own right and b) only 4 points separated Spurs automatically qualifying for Europa and S'ton having to go through qualifiers so bedding in a new CB partnership on the fly could easily make the difference between us being in Europe or not.
