John Stones transfer saga

These headlines will rile Chelsea and Jose especially.

Expect a cryptic reaction and ultimately further strained relations making a deal even harder.

Doesnt have to force it publicly. Why doesnt Martinez just answer then and say "no he hasnt told me he is interested"
Why should he make a private conversation public just because Chelsea want all this to play out before the press?

He could well be interested, just like Baines was interested in the move to Man United but a huge difference in being open to an offer and pushing for one. Especially when you have a 4 year contract.

They might not need to sell to buy, but if they do it and choose to address the debt that would be a choice to benefit themselves (as future sellers) at the expense of building a team.

As for stadium plans - I refuse to believe that lot can deliver (and you can bet there wont be too many partners queuing up to sign a contract with them).

I do not disagree, I'm just laying out the alternatives.

I find it impossible to believe they can deliver a suitable stadium project.

If he has to go I really hope it is to Utd or Citeh. The behaviour from Chelski has been a disgrace throughout this saga. Would much rather he stayed though

It'll come down to Stones himself I reckon. And his head is turned already supposedly

I've only seen snippets of what Bobby said mate but I didn't read it as in his heads turned Lescott style he wants to do one. I read it as of course as a young fella all this daily talk is gonna do your head in and unsettle you a bit but it's a learning curve that should make him more mature.

I may he wrong there though pal and he really did mean his heads gone all scatty cat and he wants to jump ship

Looking further at the comments Martinez has played a blinder.

Totally accused Chelsea of forging a campaign to deliberately unsettle a player.

Also sent a message to Stones that its not ultimately down to him.

Someone on my Facebook posted this earlier. I have no idea how true it is but he's an alright lad and the people he's tagged aren't Everton fans so I doubt he's on the wind up.

I definitely expect the London media to bang on about Stones being the natural successor to Terry and how it's an honour to go to West London and get splinters in his backside because Mourinho doesn't entertain the concept of squad rotation or playing youth unless you could play the banjo on Diego Costa's hamstrings - and even then get one of his agents' stars in.

Surprised at people buying the glossy message hook line and sinker. What I gather from that is Martinez is maximising the price of any possible sale.

He's embellished Stones' potential as possibly the best ever English centre half. Blue-tinted specs aside, that's a big claim. Then goes on about our strong financial position. In the next breath he's said he's not stupid enough to think we can hang on to him.

Sounds to me like he's making a sale.
