John Stones transfer saga

Come on mate, Martinez isn't some waiter off the boat from Barcelona speaking pidgin English. He's lived and worked in this industry over here for decades.
Right but this is a very specific interpretation of his connotation, you are hearing "Don't intend to" and are assuming it means "will happen against my intentions". This would be a stretch even for a native speaker, but it's especially ridiculous given that this isn't his first language, regardless of how long he's played / managed in the UK.

What does Martinez mean by this?

“He was a big investment from the Championship when we brought him in, we want the player to be happy, and we hope we will get the positive news over the next few days – on everyone; on any player that has been mentioned that could be leaving.”

Tbh guess that Naismith would know, seems to be John's best mate in the squad.

For them, it is a job. I resigned from my last job, one that I had been at for 16 years, with all the same people, we had become really close friends. I had been for 3 interviews, handed in my resignation, and served 3 weeks fo my 4 weeks notice before i told them anything. I know that its a different scenario, but its just business. They'll treat it as such.

No I'm not. I'm taking it as an open ended response rather than the closed one you apparently believe it to be.

It might be his second language but he speaks better English than wot I do.

Not really. Remember Walter 'disappointing' Smith?

Everyone has go-to words they turn to and repeat over and over ad nauseam.

*hopes no one brings up carpetbaggers*
I meant to say if one was not wasn't lol.. Nah Dave think we all need to calm down but my concern is Bill" I've a great relationship with the people at Chelsea" needs to be called out on this.
I mean there is a lot of ambiguity over the situation but Roberto quite rightly wants to focus solely on Watford Saturday. Its going be an interesting few weeks till 6pm 01/09/15. IMO probably the most crucial in terms of the future direction of the club. Trampmate made a very interesting point about new contracts being signed as well.

Given he said that this morning, that's a reference to McCarthy & Mirallas (linked with moves away) signing new contracts (positive news). McCarthy announced today, Mirallas announced tomorrow (according to Paul Joyce in the Express).

It's nice re-signing players an' all, but signing new ones is well overdue. We really should be past the stage of securing existing squad members this window.

I just hope Martinez is in London tonight to help Kenwright find the combination to his wallet. Someone like Austin signing as back up striker would be a tonic for the troops.

I don't think it is mate but you make a fair point. That bell BK can put this to bed but he's too busy talking nonsense in some theatre or other. The Bayern Munich sporting director wouldn't stand for this nonsense @Pat

You make a good point fella, and I'm glad you did earlier as it cheered me up somewhat! In all honesty I am going on instinct and passed experience as opposed to evidence that is occurring. Everything that is said could easily be taken to mean that we are remaining steadfast in our desire to keep him. I certainly hope we are, I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong and an idiot and have Stones still here come September 2nd or alternatively have us selling him for a huge fee of 40 + million. Fingers crossed hey!

Then why on earth wasn't the bid knocked out of the ball park with some stank on it? It's been left open by all parties at Everton. Having 'no intention' to sell is a world away from saying 'no sale, move on'.

I'm as unwilling as anyone to knock Martinez, but he's a manager working to the diktat of his employers at the end of the day.

Just out of interest. How convinced are you that Stones will be sold this window Dave ?

80,
90,
100%

I'm at about 25% by the way. I think if a big offer comes in, then we'll sell. By big, I mean 40 million or so. But I don't think we'll get such an offer.

Stick a number on it.

My contestation is that if we're to have a transfer budget of note this summer a player will have to be sold in order to supplement any small amount of cash handed to Martinez. So, we have a situation whereby we could, in theory, retain Stones for the time being and just add another player up front plus maybe a loan. If Martinez is serious about a playmaker, a CB and an attacker though, a departure is required. Stones is the name in the frame at the moment and I seriously doubt Chelsea are going to leave things as they stand. They (as far as I know) are not pursuing any other CB and Mourinho offered no guarantees that Chelsea wouldn't be in the market before the window shuts. I've thought all along he'll eventually go this window and I still think that's more likely than not, so in answer to your question I'd say I'm 60% 'convinced' about it.
