John Stones transfer saga

Then why on earth wasn't the bid knocked out of the ball park with some stink on it? It's been left open by all parties at Everton. Having 'no intention' to sell is a world away from saying 'no sale, move on'.

I'm as unwilling as anyone to knock Martinez, but he's a manager working to the diktat of his employers at the end of the day.

His employers; please. If he was doing so why would he comment on it in the first place?

Where did he say its "out of his control" lad?
Do you mean he said it in the context of he can't control if another club makes a bid for another teams player cause if so that means diddlyswat in the greater scheme of things
Yes I mean that. It's a change of rhetoric, especially with his body language than before. You think it means nothing, I think it's a change in rhetoric and output.

Probably already posted but hopefully the lads are all talking......

"I'm buzzing and delighted to be committing my future long-term," said McCarthy, who had been linked with Tottenham and Manchester City.

"I've loved every minute I've been here, with the fans having made me feel so welcome from day one, as well as the players and staff."

"This is a brilliant club with a brilliant fan base and what we want to try to do is bring some success here and push forward.

"The gaffer is trying to build a team and a squad for the long term - I'm excited to be a part of that and to be a part of this team."

You're parsing diction from someone who's first language isn't even English, and assessing body language in order to arrive at a conclusion that just so happens to fit your oft-stated view of the board.

Martinez's job isn't to choose his words so as to stop the fans from fuming over absolutely nothing. I doubt it even occurred to him that when he said "no intention to sell", whoppers on a forum would extrapolate that to mean that Stones will be sold against his intentions.

This is total madness.

Come on mate, Martinez isn't some waiter off the boat from Barcelona speaking pidgin English. He's lived and worked in this industry over here for decades.

I suppose we are arguing about what would constitute "firm evidence" really. The fact that we have had two bids for our player and other ex pro's saying a second club should try and sign him would suggest there is something in the story. I wouldn't call that "firm evidence" though.

As I keep saying, what worries me is not that I think we are on the brink of losing Stones. It's the change in rhetoric that appears to be coming.

The only reason these ex players are saying anything at all, is because they are reading the same guff as you in the papers.

I'd be very, very surprised if any of the current Everton players have any idea at all as to whether Stones is staying or not, never mind some hack from London

It's possible new contracts may be signed by players knowing Stones won't be getting sold...

Ive read that loads off him in here now, and I have absolutely no idea about what quote hes talking about. If its from today's press conference, it wasn't said in that way, at all.

Tbh guess that Naismith would know, seems to be John's best mate in the squad.

I don't think it is mate but you make a fair point. That bell BK can put this to bed but he's too busy talking nonsense in some theatre or other. The Bayern Munich sporting director wouldn't stand for this nonsense @Pat

He is though mate. Nobody could use the word phenomenal so many times in a sentence if one wasn't confident about their level of English
