Jo

Rumour has been going forever that Neb. Fairly obvious that any correspondence with City will bring up Lescotts name.

The delay in the Jo deal only adds to it.

I hadn't heard a figure put on it before. To me, £14m + Jo would be good enough. That would kinda put a value on Joleon of £22m, assuming we say Jo is worth £8m at this time.

The thing is, City paid £19m for him, and Moyes also wanted to splash out but couldn't raise the finance. With Moyes' delicate touch, maybe Jo really could be turned into a £15m+ striker? If so, the deal above would be fantastic from our perspective.

Plus, the £14m we get in cash leaves us money for Defour (maybe), and the rest of the transfer budget (£10m) can be used elsewhere (CB presumably).

Just a thought :)

If Lescott is leaving, wished that Moyes would have gone after Onyewu (another Standard Liege player to throw in the mix) - he went to AC Milan on a free transfer. Obviously a little bias due to nationality but he's in the same mold as Lescott - big, hulking and controls the middle well.

Im afraid Jo may always be to me the man involved in Lescott leaving the club.

The same way some dont like Fellaini because he was the man we got when we didnt get the Mout.

If Jo, Vaughan and Saha can complete there pre-seasons Yak won't need to get back so early, he can concentrate on getting back as strong and as fit as possible.

Jo didn't have a pre-season with City last season, he was at the Olympics so It'll be interesting to see. Round said it's been a bit of a shock to his system but he's working hard.

The same goes for Fellaini aswell, if we can get these players as strong as possible then where going to have some really dangerous options upfront.

Right, a decent pre-season for these should certainly get us off to better start than last season. Bring on Arse!

He would have to be signed. Didn't his loan run out on 31st May. If so, and he is training with us, who is paying him?

As I said, he would have to have signed - probably by midnight (40 mins ago) if he was to play.

You're probably right, teams often play triallists etc.

I bow to your superior knowledge of non-contractual affairs Goat! (y)

Will be intresting, cant imagine him playing unless a deal is in place in case he gets injured.

Thats a danger yes, but from Citys point of view he needs games in the pre-season. If he plays for us and then the plug is pulled, its no great loss for them really.

But I dont suppose he would play if he isnt "signed up".

I would hope for some sort of confirmation by tonight concerning the deal.

Permanent of loan?

From the OS. No mention of it being a loan move, though.

So the £14m + Jo for Lescott is true :D

Blues Closing In On Jo

by Adam Clark | Friday 10 July 2009, 09:00

Everton officials are aiming to finalise a deal for Jo ahead of tonight's trip to Bury.
The Blues have been in continuing discussions with Manchester City over the striker since announcing talks on Tuesday.
Jo, a Brazilian international, spent five months on loan at Goodison Park last season, netting five times in 12 appearances.
Now David Moyes wants to bring the 22-year-old, who has spent the week at Everton's training camp in Scotland, back to Merseyside.
It's hoped the deal will be completed in time for Jo to feature in this evening's friendly - the first of Everton's pre-season campaign.
The Blues are also seeking international clearance for new signing Shkodran Mustafi ahead of the trip to Gigg Lane.
Mustafi, 17, completed a free transfer from German outfit Hamburg on Tuesday.
