I don’t think there has been any official explanation why. Saw some folk in here saying that Kean and him were pinged so had to isolate but no idea if true.

Those rumours were swirling before the team was announced, so I reckon it’s likely there’s something in them.

Hope that’s all it is. I don’t know what the normal protocol is for clubs commenting on or confirming something like that. Guess Benitez will get asked about player availability in his pre match press conference for Southampton so we’ll see what he says then.

Seriously hope he can stay fit for all or at least most of the season. Genuinely a very very good player and exactly the type of player we need and have been lacking.
