His injury hell led to a huge hole in the midfield, which in turn saw Silva sacked as he had no answer.

Ancelotti comes in and revamps the entire midfield with sensible spending, whilst we still have the unknown of JPG to come back potentially.

Everything happens for a reason.
Great post mate. Had Gbamin and Gomes been available for most of last season Silva would almost certainly still be our manager

He won’t he doesn’t have a clue. Getting behind and throw the forwards in and everyone up top.
Sorry mate you're way off on that one. You can see the complete transformation in this team just having two very good midfielders in the engine room. 8 of our 11 first choice players are exactly the same as last season. Silva played the majority of his games without Gbamin, Gomes and even Delph available. He had to play our 4th and 5th choice midfielders in those games. A fit Gbamin and Gomes would have made a hell of a difference.

I'm not saying we'd have finished in a champions league place. But there's no way Silva would have been sacked.

yeah felt sorry for Silva at times. He wanted Gomes and Gbamin as his first choice midfield with Delph as back up. Iwobi Bernard and Richarlison behind Calvert Lewin. Instead all three of his midfield signings miss the majority of the season, Iwobi and Bernard are barely fit and when they do get on the pitch don’t look fit. So he is forced to rely yet again on the same old failures of Schneiderlin Sigurdsson Davies Walcott in midfield. Of course I’m glad it led to Ancelotti coming here but Silva must be rueing his luck sometimes.

Do have some sympathy for Silva, the above reasons of Gbamin, Gomes and Delph all being injured was seriously unfortunate. Didn't help that we let him down by not bringing in Zouma/another CB and panic buying Iwobi when clearly he wanted Zaha or another winger.

That said, I don't think he was right for the club. He looked like a lost schoolboy on the touchline at times and don't think he ever really bought into the club like Moyes, Martinez and Ancelotti did.

It's rare for an injury to last over 1 year. He will have missed a season and a half and that includes a pandemic break as well.

He will have a long road ahead. If he can stay fit, it will take him the rest of the season to adapt his mind and body to being a professional athlete again. Then next season is when he will start to look normal.

But I wish him luck and Hope he recovers well. Would make for a nice story and it would strengthen our midfield.

That's just not true lad. He was at worst rusty because he had no pre season. And he last played August 2019 which is not even 14 months never mind 24

Where's all this venom come from? He

...absolutely. Gbamin was open about his lack of match fitness and pre-season, yet he was pushed in at the deep end. He should’ve been managed with care because muscle fatigue always made it high risk that a hamstring or quad could pop.

Only sympathy he gets from me he was robbed quite a couple of times by awful refereeing/VAR decisions everything else was down to him, Ferguson managed to beat Chelsea with Davies/Schneiderlin in midfield.
