January Transfer Window 2026

Do we think there will be any incomings (other than the hopeful T George)
If they sell players absolutely there should be...mcneill has to be replaced. George is a young player that might prove to be a good acquisition for the long term, but we need players for the now. Sadly I dont expect the club to spend money which is disappointing but thats the new reality. As long as our future is guaranteed in the pl, TFG will not be spending money. Only if our position in the pl was under threat then they might have been more incline to spend. Otherwise is only about profits.

We're top half and a couple of astute signings would almost certainly get us a Euro spot.

Moyes + the Exceptional Operators have shat the bed here.

They have less than 90 minutes to get some signings done in order to avoid criticism.
I don't blame Moyes for this.

I blame the recruitment department under Angus Kinnear.

If someone can show me Moyes rejected options this window then he can have some of the blame as well but Kinnear was already eager to downplay expectations for this window in December.

Moyes is on that panel and with the final say-so.

As if Moyes couldn't insist on a RB.

Well said, I get the whole not getting relegated so no need to spend thing, but surely there’s still a chance at getting Europe that could be worth an addition to push for? Guess it’s how much they believe in the squad (also see Notts forest struggling after getting Europe, maybe a one year push isn’t worth in the long terms and we need to be building on a much longer project)

It's difficult but not impossible and we have a need and desire to improve this squad so I expect that the recruitment department will find a solution as that's why we employ them.

To come out of this window with just a single loan will mark this as the second disappointing window under Angus Kinnear's leadership for me.

It's not good enough.
What I’m getting at is if we are able to get our first choice players in the summer then I’ll be glad that we didn’t settle for our 4th choice players in January for the sake of them playing a dozen games. There are legitimate reasons why clubs don’t want to sell good players in January, or even if they’re open to it why deals might not get done. Like I said, I’m not saying this how I’d actually want the window to go, I just don’t think it’s a massive deal. Some people would go to bed a lot happier tonight if we spend £15m on Harry Wilson who’s out of contract in 4 months and brought in a left back they’ve never seen play on a 5 year contract because he might be marginally better than Mykolenko for the next 14 games, I wouldn’t. Different strokes for different folks that’s all.
