January Transfer Window 2026

Obviously things can change, but listening to updates from the Bobble, I'm not feeling optimistic.

The club haven't even had discussions as to whether or not they will send Grealish back to City, apparently. Yet they think he will be out for at least 3 months before he's back training.
huh did Grealish injury not happen yesterday ? even so he still needs to see the specialist.

Bizarre number of people saying we should cancel Grealish's loan

City would have to agree to this and we are currently covering somewhere in the region of £200k per week of Grealish's wages - why would City possibly agree to cancelling the loan just so they can pay those wages themselves instead?

Not happening at all
I don’t think anyone is saying we should cancel the loan if it’s not an option, if it’s up for negotiation, then we should and if there’s a clause in the deal saying we can then we definitely should. Given what we’ve gone through with spending the last decade it’d be ridiculous to spend 5-7m on wages on a player who MAY not play again until the last month of season.

Agree, I don’t think it would even be an option in what we agreed with City.
We don’t even know the extent of it yet, he might miss games until the end of feb and then be back fo March, April and May.

Always imagine there must be clauses or insurance about injuries in loans that reduce payments - maybe I'm naive.

Generally stuff like this is built into the contract. You are on loan, you get an injury, you are out, you generally go back.

Zero excuse as to why we can’t enter the loan market for a winger now.

Zero.

I agree that we should be trying to use the loan slots, and the club probably are.

I’m just not convinced that there will be many players out there, of quality, that their parent club would be happy to loan out. Unless it’s right at the end of the window cos a player who is not playing wants to get a move to increase their chance of a World Cup squad place.
