January Transfer Window 2026

View attachment 340570

This is pathetic if true. They wheel out the 'difficult market' crap all the time. And you know what will happen in the summer? We'll get told it's a difficult or slow market because of the world cup. Then we'll get told that players don't want to sign for us because we're not in Europe. Then we'll get told the following January that there is no value in it.

Repeat ad nauseam.
Relax mate.

Relax mate.
Nah. Results I can live with. The chronic lack of ambition from the club is utterly mind-boggling. Doesn't matter what clowns are in charge they all do the same. We shouldn't accept it as a fanbase.

If they get something done and we come up short, we can give praise to Moyes and the team for improvement. But it is the constant acceptance of mediocrity from the top, and a lot of the fanbase that winds me up more than anything else.

We all spend so much of our time and money following the club, it shouldn't be too much to ask for a bit of competence and ambition in exchange. And for them to can the excuses.

Really annoys me.

That doesn't make sense although we have to mindful of PSR this window despite having some room to operate I thought the premier league was phasing out PSR for a different set of financial rules? If true it's frustrating but let's not unravel just because of one story.
Unfortunately that journo has been top source for Everton since the takeover. What's in the article will be correct.

Don't understand myself about saving PSR headroom when it changes next season, but have to assume those are the club know more than we do.

if it’s the season, then the loan needs to be terminated. Gutted, but now we have to get a winger in this month as the new priority alongside a full back. Bobb is available on loan isn’t he? Is the Nwaneri

It will be SCR, it's just different math. Still caps what you can spend.

Supposedly not as restrictive in theory?
Depends on circumstances. Under the new rules you can spend 85% of your revenues on squad costs. Theoretically, under the current system you could spend more than 85% depending on your prior losses and how the rest of your P&L is structured.

There is also a 30% allowance to exceed, which decreases the following year you exceed. I'm sure you read about it, I won't bother trying to repeat it here. But again, there's nothing stopping a club currently from spending more than 115%, as long as they comply with the threshold in a three year period.

SCR is also easier to measure as it's based on prior results with current player trading.

Better than McNeil so if we could sell McNeil and have Wilson as backup that would be fine. No idea why he'd join us as backup though when surely plenty of clubs, maybe not necessarily in the Premier League though, would guarantee him a start each week.
Why would he join as a backup?

Premier League football is a squad game. As we have seen this season injuries and suspensions happen regularly, players have lulls in form; options and choice is mandatory. You have to have two players at each position to even tread water.

No club as a fixed, set in stone first XI. Any player will look at Everton, look at the players occupying the positions he plays in and will make a judgement call. The players who go "yeah, I'm better than that, I'll get that spot" are the ones you want.

Take Harry Wilson for example. He has three spots he could get into. If Fulham can't afford his new deal and he fancies Everton. You'd certainly want him.
