January Transfer Window 2026

Wolves picked that Mane up from Rochdale. When was the last time we managed to sign someone from a lower league team or youth prospect who has come in and made an impact. Our scouting and recruitment is as bad as our managers tactics and team selections.
Not many teams manage to do this. It's just basically look. We probably used up a 30 year supply of that signing Coleman.

Branthwaite and then you have to go back DCL and Holgate. We are bad at doing this

….DCL only cost £1m. Stones, Branthwaite, Holgate, Lookman. We’ve probably done ok with those types in recent times.
Not to mention Coleman. It's one of the generic things all football fans think their club does badly in comparison to every other club. We've signed loads of talent from lower leagues over the years.

The last thing we should be doing now is buying Moyes-type players. If we're going to bring in players with Moyes' approval then it's pretty much guaranteeing us little to no improvement in the near future.

We're safe this season, just get rid of him and start a long-term project ffs.
This is the one positive of not spending money this window.

There may well be the attitude that there will be a change in manager come May (we can hope) and the last thing the club needs is another scenario where the incoming team are burdened by the signings of a former regime on long term deals.

We have a limited budget. We're not going to qualify for the Champions League whoever we sign. We're not in danger of relegation and we have players due back from injury/AFCON who will improve us. If we think we can get better players for better value in the summer I would sooner wait. Bad decisions on transfer have lasting repercussions. I don't want us to buy another fullback as bad as Myko who was a January signing.
Why cant we just get a fb this window , refuse to believe we have that limited of a budget. If scouting doen correctly will be options i get this window will be high prices esp in forward positions. But 100% is deals to be done at a fair price

Hopefully we are targeting loans to leave our options open. Moyes can then get his premiership experience without us been committed to long onerous contracts but as someone else has previously pointed out those won’t happen until towards the end of the month. 🤞

Obviously didn’t mean every single one. But how many can you say have been a success? So far I’d say literally 1. Waiting until the summer doesn’t guarantee us better deals, they use it as an excuse to not bother logging on from September-May every year, they are absolute bluffers.
I think we should still be trying to make moves in Jan. , I do agree with them it's a more a challenging market most teams even in lower leagues don't want to sell their best players mid season unless you offer them something over their current value or you have to look for cast offs from better funded clubs which you can find gems like a dewsberry hall but you can also get crap like delph. I think a right back is imperative and needs to happen this window but lets not act it's a super easy window to operate in, look at who usually buys players in Jan, city because they can just throw obscene amounts of money at target they want

Its always difficult to sign players in January even more so when the AFCON is on as squads are depleted. Has this excuse been rolled out yet?

Or maybe just maybe we have someone lined up to play on the opposite side of the pitch to Left Back (no rules broken), but they are playing in the AFCON so agreement cant be signed until after

We can plan to buy x, y or z but if the player doesn't want to come or the club that owns him doesn't want to sell him for a price that we find acceptable that isn't really a failure of planning is it?
You sound like you've already been converted to accept anything the club want you to think.

There's a whole world of players not just the Premier lge that would jump at the chance to play in this league for any club.

Bournemouth , Brentford & Brighton show how consistantly it can be down.

Its all down to recruitment and planning , something we dont seem to have.
