January Transfer Window 2026

Really ???
Planning comings into everything.

Summer was a mishmash with no recruitment team in .
Now theve been in for months do you think they get paid for not having a plan.

The deficiencies are glaring and need addressing pronto , no PSR worries like previous seasons.
If there isnt a "plan" we may as well just roll over like we have been doing.
Great point, I made similar in other posts. I accept permanent signings are often complex but surely we should have identified loans to strengthen our low squad numbers.

The last thing we should be doing now is buying Moyes-type players. If we're going to bring in players with Moyes' approval then it's pretty much guaranteeing us little to no improvement in the near future.

We're safe this season, just get rid of him and start a long-term project ffs.

….he brought in KDH, Grealish, Dibling, Barry, Rohl and Alcaraz in the summer, I assume they are who you mean as ‘Moyes type players’?

Criticism of the summer window in general is entirely justified given the failure (so far) of big money deals for Dibling and Barry, I just struggle with categorisation of players the manager likes.

Doubt it. Wasn’t the reason Ericsson ended up at Brentford because the Italian League would not accept any insurance for him because he had one fitted. (Whereas it’s fine in the PL)
Edoardo Bove: "My goal is to return to football in June. If I decide to keep the internal defibrillator, I can't play in Italy. I can play almost everywhere abroad. But doctors tell me there is a possibility for me to remove it. Football is too important for me. I will not give up."

Maybe the plan is for him to possibly play here until it can be removed?
He did.

Could you list the good ones v the bad ones please?

To what end? Of course there’s bad ones, probably more bad ones than good ones, that will be the same in the summer window though. It’s the recruitment teams job to find good ones. We’ve bought in Arteta in a January window, Stones Lookman Jelavic Pienaar (loan) Fernandes (loan) Tim Howard. Yes it’s harder but there’s still an opportunity to improve the squad.

I think the Moyes type players are the likes of Soucek whom I’m convinced Moyes would have liked to sign if the ‘committee’ had allowed him to & Ward Prowse who he signed at West Ham.

Rather than the likes of Pienaar, Baines, Arteta, Lescott, Yakubu, Manny Fernandes, Paqueta, Bowen, KDH, Grealish etc.

Using 2 specific players to call them “Moyes type” seems a bit silly tbh.

Wolves picked that Mane up from Rochdale. When was the last time we managed to sign someone from a lower league team or youth prospect who has come in and made an impact. Our scouting and recruitment is as bad as our managers tactics and team selections.

….DCL only cost £1m. Stones, Branthwaite, Holgate, Lookman. We’ve probably done ok with those types in recent times.

We have a limited budget. We're not going to qualify for the Champions League whoever we sign. We're not in danger of relegation and we have players due back from injury/AFCON who will improve us. If we think we can get better players for better value in the summer I would sooner wait. Bad decisions on transfer have lasting repercussions. I don't want us to buy another fullback as bad as Myko who was a January signing.
